    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2010 Te250 Stator

Hi all,

I need a new stator for my bike but it is seemingly impossible to find just the stator. Motosports OEM section and husky dealer both are trying to sell me the entire flywheel assembly for like $800...

Anybody know where I can find a new/used stator? Link or P/N would be greatly appreciated.

I'll have to do a more thorough ebay search. The stator from AUS seems to be for the TC not TE, I've come across a few of those but unfortunately they do not run the same stator.

I have a good stator from a 2010 TE250 that needs a pickup coil attached.

You could put your existing pickup coil on.

Do you know how I can test if my pickup coil still works?

this test doesn't tell that it's good, but it will tell you its bad: you should read 100ohms (or was it 125??) between the leads. I'd say less than 80 or more than 150 would mean you got problems.

btw, the reading is with the leads disconnected.

Do I need to bite the bullet and just buy the whole assembly or should I see if R_Little is still willing to sell me his and try that?
 
well, there's places here in the US that sell just the pickup. but the cheapest place is Horse Power Ignition, (somewhere in europe- Belgium? CRS)
https://www.hpi.be/ (yep, belgium. P01 is the one you want... and look at all the bikes that ran it. note that husky is not mentioned- don't sweat it). It was their catalog (and a cafe member) who gave me the resistance figure of a 100 ohms IIRC.

You can also find used ones on eBay (because a bazillion KTMs used it also)

I was thinking you could swap the pickup off yours if you are good at soldering.

OTOH, my brother builds industrial equipment and I guess I could ask him to solder it.
 
Well at this point my stator is reading open line on all leads and the pickup coil is reading 155ohms so I would need both anyway

This site has the stator and coil for an '11-'12 TE250, will that work? Looks identical to mine and they are the same engine aren't they? Not sure if that matters or not though

I believe everything is the same.

no soldering involved- just splice the new pickup in. The only reason they are one assembly would the wiring harness connection- guessing.

with both components (stator & pickup) shitting the bed at the same time might indicate an external factor: harness or connector problem, maybe something sharp & metallic went through your case and cut shit up (look for debris stuck on the magnets of the rotor or at the bottom of the case... or (god forbid) on your oil filter & screen.

The extra stator I have is off a AA riders bike.

He rode is so hard in the tight stuff he actually melted the pickup coil!

Hey, I had to replace my generator on my 2010 TE250 last year, my mechanic (Lang's Offroad - Dorchester, ON) just used one from a Sherco, I am not sure what the part number is, but I can tell you its made by Ducati, as well as the original one which I have in front of me as I am typing this.
Below are the specific details off the stock and replacement - these are not the actual part numbers for Husky or Sherco, I assume its the numbers that Ducati uses. maybe someone who is a specialist can decipher what they exactly mean.
Stock: has a Ducati pick up with the part numbers 43313 [8010], and 37/09 on the stator (I assume date of manufacture looking at it now)
Replacement: same as above but stator numbers are 47/15.

Hope that helps some. for what its worth, my bike seems to run well and keeps the battery charged with a upgraded headlight (Trail Tech X2), cell phone charger, and Trail Tech Vapour all drawing from the battery/charging circuit.

yes, 37/09 and 47/15 are the week and date of manufacture.

I did some research and looked at parts/part numbers on motosports OEM section and figured out that the stator for the 2011 TXC250 (no TE in 2011) is sold as is, where as the 2010 is sold as the entire flywheel assembly. So I found a guy on ebay that had one used and agreed to let me return it to him if it doesn't work instead of purchasing one new and not being able to return if I doesn't work.

Stator came in the mail yesterday and it seems to be identical, connectors and all. I have it in the case and ready to go but of course two of the bolts for the crankcase cover are bent and one stripped. I live in a small town and nobody had the matching bolts so I had to order some online. Will update you guys when bolts come in and get her filled with oil and fired up!

So in an attempt to torque the bolts in the generator cover cracked. Ordered a new OEM one from motosport and it was for the TC not TE. They don't carry the one for the TE, of course. So now I am at a standstill again. Can't find any on ebay either.

Anybody have a TE generator cover for sale? The difference between the TE and TC is the depth. The TE case buts right up to the flywheel where as on the TC the housing protrudes from the flywheel and the case is smaller in depth.
 
I bet TXC's covers are the same too. probably just milled for the electric start. btw, use way less torque on those bolts (8lbs?? crs)

look at the part number to see if all years fit (2011-2014, 250, 310, TE, TXC)
