  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 te250 Oil Coming Out Of Airbox.

If his sight glass is having him put in 1100ml, it's too much.

Man, if the sight glass reading between the marks requires that much oil after all the stuff mentioned above either the measuring process is flawed or the bike isn't level laterally and/or longitudinally and showing an inaccurate reading. I get approximately 825 cc out of a fresh 1000cc jug after changing oil and filter with a warm engine. Not saying I am perfect by any means but something's not right to require 1100cc. Haven't had any swing arm stains yet with 100hrs on the clock.

I've found that the sump will not completely drain without removing the drain plug and screens and tipping the bike from side to side. A lot of additional oil will come out when you lean the bile over. Also, for the sight glass to be accurate, you need run the bike until warm and the let it sit for several minutes. BTW, my TE510 owners manual says 1.5 US Quarts for oil and filter replacement and 1.3 for just oil. That's a lot more than 900ml

My 09 TE510 says 1.5 for just engine oil and 1.8 qts. for oil and filter. I also shift the bike from side to side when changing the oil, I use 2 tie down straps 1 for each side makes the whole process easy. Level the bike, shift to the left, shift to the right, of course all plugs and screens are removed, which was made easier by using the 7602 drain set all are 14 milimeter.

Older TEs (09 & 10s) are a totally different Engine !

The new xlites hold 900ml +/- .

Personally I fill to 3/4 of sight glass with bike level, warm engine.

Never had any Oil "Stains" or problems .
