  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi everyone I'm brand new here with a new used bike with 746 km on it. I'm used to the two strokes but I'm 54 now and have to cool it a little. I just bought this bike and love the looks , power and feel of the bike off road however starting this thing is another case. It looks like I'll take it to the dealer for a power up kit but i cant beleive a stealer would let a bike leave the show room working like this. Do all the husky 4 strokes need tuning?.I did see a well explained process how to do it but I'm not mechanical. I bought the bike used and its mint not even boot scuffs on the protection plates a real garage queen. I dont want a race bike just something that starts easy lol.

Need more detail on the starting difficulty: does it crank and turn over? does it backfire when cranking? does it have new gas in it? can you hear the fuel pump prime everytime you turn the key on? have you tried using the pull knob on the left side of the throttle body whne starting it? etc

A 2010 450 may have been manufactured in Sep of 2009, so the bike is 3 1/2 years old with 463 miles on it, that's about 12 miles a month. There could be a build-up of varnish inside the fuel pump and the fuel injector.

Yes bike cranks fine and dosnt backfire. Before I took it out put in my chevron 93 octane fuel in it. Fuel pump is pumping and enricher knob pulled out when starting cold. I think this is a case of the bike being way to lean sold off the show room floor. After reading all these posts I'm hoping to just remove the o2 sensor and plug the hole and having it remapped by the stealer. Dealer network is poor here but the KTM guys said they get bikes that cant even make it up a ramp out of the box they are restricked that much. Made me feel better. Anyway hope this works.
