  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2010 tc250 supermoto conversion

Apparently STM now make a slipper for the TE & TC 250 /310 & that's the one I have got. Not had much time yet to fit anything else but I have some time off work towards the end of the month & a test day planned for the 21st march so need to get it sorted by then. Looks like I will need to use the motocross forks for now so I may try raising them slightly & see how that goes. Paul has been great helping me out with advice & help which is great as there ain't many TC250 Motos about. Will post some more pics soon. Cheers.

i have to agree, that rear is a way bigger then what a 250 will pull. you would be better of w a 5" but that would be my choice....You may be able to get the shim stack info from husky, they had zokes do 50 sets for the RR's. it's super stiff, works great everywhere except the dirt jumps, where it tends to blow through too easy.

Wow that bike looks gorgeous, those forged wheels look fantastic! Looks like you are running standard calipers with a 320 on the front, how do you find it? That is the route I'm gonna take for now cos I figure it's so light.
Have u raced or used it on track?

Thanks, planning to run stock calipers for now. CHECK your front axle? the SMRs have a bigger shoulder then TEs X-lite. I had a little play, that translated to a lot with the 320 on front. Had to order the SMR
axle today to make it all work.IMGP0006.JPG

Prepping it to race 2012 SMUSA novice.

This will be the funnest bike you will ever ride............

Will check the axle, thanks for the tip. Have you set up your Suspention yet?
Are you gonna be using standard kit with different springs on for racing?
I can't wait to ride it now but have a fair bit of work yet....

What exactly is the difference? Are you talking about where the shoulder of the axle is? The diameter of it? I'm not sure I've heard of this but I'm curious to know!

OK, this is what I see, after a few rides. The shoulder of the X-light front axle is smaller than the ID of SM bearings, so the right side spins, rather than seats on the axle. Plan to bring my caliper home this weekendIMGP0003.JPG Marchi spacer is all good.....

Suspension is next up, I still have not had it on a track yet. I weigh all up 155-160 lbs so I think I can work
with the stock stuff ???

I'm now having a hell of a job removing the front brake caliper from the bracket it just will not budge, tried heat, WD40, tapping it. In theory it is only the vacuumn from the rubber boot holding it on. Did u have the same problem #510? Any tips anyone?

Bummer, No I did not. I did notice when I had mine apart the pins were dry (no grease) from the factory or Brembo ???
If you can move it in and out ? it is just vacuum, Open it up as far as it goes and try pulling the upper boot out of its seat on the bracket. That should do it ?

Thanks, It won't move in and out at all, I can rotate it slightly. I think it must be corroded inside. Doh!

Up date on front axle.

So I got the SMR axle today and found the reason the X-light had the play in it. Looking at the
pics you can see the SMR axle is tapered at the start of the shoulder so it seats in the bearing. The X-liight is not tapered and just buts and will not seat. The diameters are the same, but
the SMR axle shoulder is 1/4 inch longer. The round ID rather than the Hex allows me to use my SME sliders from my 510.IMGP0005.JPGIMGP0007.JPG

Those spinning marks, is that where your Marchesini bearing is sitting? Because the bearings on the husky hubs sit on the smaller OD of the axle and the seal sits on the wheel spacer and the larger OD shoulder of the axle. The husky wheel bearings have a 25mm ID

J.R. you are correct, the spinning marks are from the seal not the bearing. My conclusion is the SMR
spicific hubs { stock and after-market) the right side bearing needs to seat on the axle, not but up
like the X-lite.

I just got back from a test ride (little break in the rain here) all is perfect... It is so much fun having
a plated race bike, I took a spin 1/4 mile on the freeway to check top end gearing, 13/47 @ 8000 RPM
gives me 60 mph. Good for our first race @ PC small cart track.

I'm still not understanding what you mean. The bearing goes on the axle and buts up against that shoulder. That is the other "wheels spacer", the other side is a sleeve that slides on the axle. Are you saying the bearing shouldn't but up against the shoulder? because that is part of the design and what keeps the wheel in its place.

No the right side needs to be seated with the taper on the shoulder in the pic. The TE axle just buts up
to the bearing (no seat) all is good now with SMR axle. So what I am saying, If you want to put Husky SM specific wheels (SMR 450,510,610) on your 2010-11 TE 250 you will need to buy a SMR front axle to make it all work.

Is all this info any use to my bike? i'm looking to do the same but I have an 06' TC250. It was originally a sm when i bought it but i forgot what size wheels it had on it. I was thinking of changing it back.

I dont think you should have any issues. I had an 06 TC250 and I used stock axle to fit SM wheels. What kind of wheels are you fitting? OEM and pretty much all the aftermarket wheels use the stock spacer setup. I think the Marchesini's are the only ones that do not.

Got the TC250 out on track a couple of weeks back & it performed really well, it loses out a bit on power to the 450s but it is so light it can carry an amazing amount of corner speed.
The brakes are okay, but I think they would benefit from a better caliper set up as it is currently standard. Suspension is just a stiffer spring & standard rear at the moment.

Looking good!! Throw some Beringer brakes on there and you will be VERY happy. They make an axial mount caliper in 4 or 6 piston that will bolt to your fork bottom without the need of an adapter. They are used in conjunction with a 310mm Beringer Aeronal rotor and a specific master cylinder. BRO-10(14.5mm) for the 4 piston caliper and BRO-12(17.5mm) for the 6 piston caliper. You can get the parts in a kit too which helps on cost

Thanks, keeping my eyes peeled for a Beringer set up or a set of SMR forks with the radial calipers.

I put the WDS air shock on a couple of days ago & tried it out, it feels quite good although I don't understand quite how it works. It certainly is very light.

I will post up a few pics soon.
