    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2010 Husky TE 250 factory setup?

Greetings all,

I had to travel far to a dealership to check out huskies. I was looking for the 2011 TE250 or 310s but they were sold out and had two TE 250s from 2010 - brand new (well 9 miles)...

I went to check it out sit on it and rev it up (didn't get to test drive , raining and it was in showroom)... But I know that these are nice bikes any how.

I seen some people on here talk about the Power-Up kit? I wasn't informed of this at the dealership. I had just asked them to lower it an inch and map the fuel injection with latest settings.

So my question is: What should I expect the rear gear sprocket to be? I've heard that factory setup is 40 rear but then I've also heard it's stock 50 in the back and you can get a street kit to lower it to 40...? I'm a little confused. Is this power up kit available from a Husky dealership? Should they have asked if I wanted it?

I want some wheelie power so I'm hoping for 50 rear. Guess I will call next week and double check before making the purchase. Thanks for any help about this power up kit and factory/dealership stock settings!
 
The factory 40 is for emissions issues. The bike comes with another rear sprocket, likely a 50, in a box with some other stuff. The power up kit used to be a plug for the O2 sensor and a resistor for the connector and an Arrow exhaust. There are some variations of this depending on the year and model of bike. Some years involved the removal of a throttle stop. All the information on the power up is usually at the end of the Service Manual for that particular year and model.

Lowering the bike an inch? Not sure how they'll do that for you. Kouba link is one solution (or has been). If they said they could lower it, I'd ask them specifically how they are going to do it and what the issues are regarding handling etc.

All things considered the bikes take a while to break in to where they run smoothly (around 20-25 hours or 500-600 miles). Some do the powerup right away and others later. It will run richer and likely better if powered up from the beginning. Some people advocate the ride it like you stole it break-in (not me), so if that's the case for you then power up first for sure as they are pretty lean and you should not be hitting the rev-limiter with such lean settings.

OK sounds good... So I guess I'll call when I confirm my purchase and ask about a power up kit that comes with it. Hopefully , if I choose, they can install it for relatively cheap.

I'm not too savvy when it comes to mechanics, but he was talking about altering the shocks and that he was going to get into the bike quite a bit. So I imagine it won't alter handling too much. Plus, I only weigh 130lbs so it needs some adjusting I would think any how.

I don't mean to keep this thread going but I don't see the information anywhere...

Is it street legal to have the power up kit installed, such as air filter implemented , 50 rear gear, exhaust, taking out rev limiter?? Was that only in place to pass the super tight laws of California or is pretty much everywhere like that in the United States? I'll be riding mostly in the northeast USA... Since I know little , I'd rather have the dealership install these parts before I take it off lot but was wondering if it still be street legal / pass inspection?
 
i think the legality of the powerup kit depends on what state you are registered in. i ride in the Northeast, and my bike is considered street legal in my state (RI).
