  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I have around 14000km milage on my 2009 SMR510.
-I just changed the clutch plates recently.
-Did valve clearance every 5000km, oil change and oil screen cleaning every 2500km (manual recommended every 5000km)
- Installed the hi-flow water pump and using Arrow factory titaniums with ECU.
- STM slipper clutch
- silicone radiator hoses by Emotion racing.

Mr. X you have a great set up on that bike
How are you liking that Exhaust and ECU

Thanks man. The exhaust is a good buy. My mechanic just adjusted the TPS and everything seems to be plug and play. Bike doesnt overheat at all while riding. Now i have a little problem, hydraulic oil seems to be leaking throught my lever joint at my clutch pump after i installed slipper clutch.

This happens sometimes when an aftermarket clutch is installed. If the clutch assembly is slightly thinner over all, the clutch push rod has to return back a little further than before to compensate. And that excess fluis has to go somewhere and the easiest place for it to escape is on the pump. Follow? Did you notice any difference in play of the lever with the slipper installed? Sometimes if the new clutch assembly is fairly different in overall height, it can change where the push rod is in its range of motion and effect the overall motion of it. Like it may not engage or disengage fully..

Hope that helps!

hey thanks man. after some hard riding the hydraulic oil stopped oozig out already and clutch play is back to normal after some adjustments. time to learn how back it in!

probably about time for a rebuild. Have you kept an eye on your maintenence schedule? I dont remember the intervals for rebuild off the top of my head..

I do valve clearance every 5000km and check the onternals while at it. Everything seems fine but im gonna change all the bearings soon to play safe.

And my clutch piston rubber ring worn out on me. Just got it change.

Damn. Stock fuel pump went down on me while riding. Replacing it with a part from ebay. And the stock magura clutch is beyond repair. The leak was caused by the scratches in the inside wall of the pump, causing fluid to leak bit by bit. Replaced it with the newer magura clutch

ebay fuel pump? I know stock fuel pump casues some problems ... gas out always on the engine and stalled.

Time to test and tune again
I really could not get the CO1,2,3 dialed in to my likening
last summer so this year I went with the JD tuner and the
LC-1 wide band A/F gauge and so far so good.

Love your guys bikes!! I have an '08 SMR510... haven't got to put many hours on with these NE winters, but I can't wait for it to warm up!

Seems like you guys put quite a few miles on your bikes, and they're lasting. Do y'all use them to commute?

My bike is my summer time full time transportation
I ride it every day.

My commute to school has about 7 miles on the freeway, but I'm afraid to wind her out that long going full-throttle....
