  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New info:
Was working on the EFI today and road down to the local
scale to get the SMR weighed full tank 300 lb.

and yes 14 inches of snow bummer!! and what kind of pipe is that looks serious, also tech 3 what did you do to your tail light section i slimmed mine down some but yours looks compact. where dose the evap canister pipe into the ead so i can make sure they capped it.

The fitting is on the left side of the motor right below the intake boot
My tail light set up is a special bracket that I make which mounts
under the tail light and the turn signals mount to it

nice thanks you bike looks sweet with those black plastics too. where do you get your oil from i ordered some from hienans but its not the race oil.

Ratty Wheat
What's up dude
how is that bad ass smr doing

and MR_X what's up with that new ECU and cans.

New prototype rack for the husky
rack.jpg
nice rack, whats the status on them? thanks

nice rack, whats the status on them? thanks

I am making the gig for the rack now
I hope to go into production this winter
also thinking of making a aluminum version
of the same design
also making a rear relocation bracket for the
turn signals like on our shop bike

Thanks for asking

New ECU and cans works perfectly. Fuel consumption actually got better at 16km/litre with 98 octane. definitely recommended. cans stay cool cause titanium rocks. lol

hey its doing good i got 150 miles on her, bike is way fast ordering odds and ends for it lke handguards. still have an oil leak but it only drips 2 mayber 3 times also i thiink it came over full with oil so it may just be leaking out the extra oil. its coming from the left side right under where all the wires come down along the crankcase looks like a silver plug i dont know what it dose but that is where its coming from. and the oil isnt between the 2 fill lies on the sight guage its amxed out and you cant even see an oil line the hole glass is filled.

AT 150 miles i would be changing the oil and filter
and you can check the torque on your case bolts
glad to hear all is well that is a great bike.

Tech 3 this is good info I like the methodical approch to the bike and the different graphics, myself I'd switch back and forth between them to keep it fresh looking and people doing a second look. Mr. X where are you getting 98 octane gas from??? I'm in the Seattle area and we have 92 super but a couple stations have 94 but I noticed even they are going to 92. I have a 08 SM510R with a power up kit with single exhaust can I also am running a K&N Xstream air filter and a Scotts stainless oil filter, I figured it will save me $$$ in the long run and the K&N gives me better peace of mind than a foam filter. I always run just a little extra oil in my bikes like 50-75cc maybe the dirt bikes make me do it. Other than that just a few pieces from 7206 like a chain guard filter cover and axle blocks for some bling.

Oh by the way if you still want a SM450RR and have extra $$$ there is on for sale in Tacoma Wa just look on the Seattle Craigslist it was just reposted yesterday it is a 09 and he is asking $6999 financing avaliable****************************************!

also heinans sold me some oil but it is not the exact race oil do you think that will matter much im nt really wanting to put it in there.

its castrol 10 50 synthetic blend but its not the recomended race oil that it fully synthetic
Man I would run what they recommend but I'm on the hard core side
about that kind of stuff
E bay has the agip 4t 10w-60 oil
really that first oil change is to flush out the engine
more than anything

yeah i hear that, just being so far from a dealer i just want to do what it says in the manual. how much dose the engine hold oil wise and im curious about all the filters to clean i cant find a nice how to. i like to measure the oil to the tee when i add it in so i dont have to drain some out if i put in too much.

You will use 1 full liter bottle and 800ml of another bottle for a oil change with a filter,
you have 4 filters, 1 paper throw away filter and 3 stainless steel screens that you will
want to pull out soak in gas and blow dry with compressed air, you will also need blue
lock tite for the two bolts on the big 2 screen cover bolts, the small screen has a allen head
bolt there are rubber O rings on both the filter screen covers, be careful, check your manual
for the proper torque it will give you all the info.
