  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Currently im using Motorex engine oil. Any better brands to recommend? Thinking of trying Castrol next. By the eay the exhausts catalysers, can they be attached back after removal as im afraid it would result to a vehicle inspection failure due to the resulting loud sound

Mr_X Whats up dude how is that SMR treating you
AS far as the oil, I run the Husqvarna recommended
AGIP T4 Racing 10W60 works out real well, The most important thing
is to change it every 500 miles and service the filters,
as far as the cats if you remove them the right way you can weld them back in.
But with them out and the restrictor plate out leave the baffle in
it is not that loud sounds sweet

Currently i've hit 5000km on the bike and gotta send to my mechanic to do the first valve clearance.
Hard to get Agip 4T around here so I guess Im gonna stick to Motorex for awhile.
I change the oil filter every oil change, currently using K&N oil filters.
Current problem is just that i can't stand the heat from the mid pipe so Im gonna get myself the Zeta carbon exhaust shield. The stock shield doesnt help much :(

Most probably ordering these exhausts soon too.

Maybe installing the race water pump, change to samco radiator hoses and the uptite Y-pipe to reduce the heat....

I ordered the AGIP off E BAY great price
When i removed the cats from the cans it greatly reduced the heat
but i think the racing water pump is a great idea i might go with one
of those my self
You might want to check your own valve Clarence it is not hard at all

I dont have the right tools to do it :( plus this is my first 4 stroke bike, wouldnt wanna screw anything up, would learn from ny mechanic slowly

AGIP is what husky use to recommend. On my 11 TE they now recommend castrol for everything. I believe this is a "contract" sort of thing. Whom ever gets the "contract" gets their oil on all Huskys bike manuals recommendations for the terms/years of the contract.

Either way, on a 07 yamaha I used to own I used yamalube, the guy who owns it now uses castrol. That things has about a million hours on it now. This guy rides or races it in enduros every weekend. I currently still use the Yamalube on both my Huskys. Ironic isn't it.

Yes it is: My first oil change was with motorex 10w50
The rest have been with the Agip 10w60
and my wifes Yamaha we run the Yamalube 15w50
I don't think the brand is as important as how often you change the oil
My husky every 500 miles and the wifes Yamaha every 1000 miles

Bought a second hand carbon performance clutch cover protector...

and decided to save up for this instead of the zeta guards.

Daily Rider Update:
The Smr has 2000 miles on it now and runs better with age
I'm still dealing with a intermittent fuel pump issue but am working
my way through it, when you start the bike up after it is warmed up
the air fuel gage reads extremely lean for about 30 seconds then becomes
stabilized, seems like a fuel pressure issue i think i will have a special
fuel line made up with a T so i can add a fuel pressure gage and
monitor fuel pressure What say you

Mine, according to the PCV software idled really rich before I pulled some fuel out at idle. You might be onto something. Is there a fuel pressure regulator somewhere?

been reading trough supermotojunkie and the guys there recommend the aftermarket fuel pump from cycle works.

TEE-DUB the regulator is on the pump Assembly it is a spring
and valve type of regulator
Mr_X I have the Ca cyclewerks pump

I think what i might do for now is install the new pump and see
if the real lean condition at start up is still there
but it would be nice to be able to read the fuel pressure in real time.

Took this from another forum. This guy shows the difference between the stock and race pump.
