  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc 2009 WR125 performance update - April 13/09

Dear Husqvarna Motorcycle*Dealers,
In accordance with Husqvarna Motorcycles NA, LLC’s (HMNA) desire to constantly improve the quality of the products, we have defined several modifications in order to increase the drivability and the reliability of the 2009 WR125.
1. Outline of modification
Power valves
Replace the power valves with the provided parts, PN 8000H0239 and 8000H0240. In order to replace the valves, it is necessary to remove the cylinder.
Remember to replace the valve cover gasket PN 800083049 before reinstalling the valve cover.
Front sprocket
Replace the original front sprocket Z13 (PN 8A0082469) with the supplied Z12 front sprocket (PN 800082469).
Exhaust
Replace the complete exhaust system (PN 8000H0119) and the silencer (PN 8000H0004) with the supplied parts PN 8000H2116 and 8000H2117. Install the silent-block (PN 800069113) in the central fixing point of the frame as shown in Pct.1 below.

Engine mounting brackets
Replace the engine mounting brackets (PN 8000H0248 and 8000H0249) with the new brackets (PN 8000H1923 and 8000H1924), as shown below in Pct.2.

To complete the upgrade you will be required to order all the necessary parts directly from HMNA. This can be accomplished by placing and order through HuskyDealerSpeed.net.
The total allotment of the required parts will arrive in staggered shipments. The first delivery is strictly reserved to upgrade units the that were retailed prior to April 13, 2009.
To be eligible for reimbursement, the cost of the required parts must be claimed under warranty after the work has been completed.

I have mine working not too bad....jetting wise...but to be honest....my 06 CR would blow it into the weeds.....

also I had trouble pulling 4th and 5th gears flat out on the straights.....I thought maybe this is due to the extra drive line weight...18in wheel/tire o ring chain and lighting coil.....

I am surprised as I didnt think there was any problems with the performance? I did know that the pipes were being replaced with new ones from CRD.
 
There was a delay int he last shipment of WR125's (mine) as there was something about the power valves. Wonder if the recent ones already had this done?

Funny I had a bad weld in my expansion chamber/pipe and already welded it .

I've also put a 52 Supersprox on the rear. Pulls like a bull if you're in the power band.:D

I've been talking to a couple of locals the race the CR-125 (06/07) and we were talk'n about putting

CR power valves springs into the 09 WR-125's.

I've posted a copy of the 2009 WR125 performance update bulletin over on Dumb 2st questions Not sure if it will stay up or not...
 
Did not break...just a bad weld. When I first ran it. The excess oil coming out of the chamber spewed all over the oil fill cap and engine /clutch cover.:eek:

For a couple of seconds I didn't know what was happening.:lol::lol::lol:

Pretty simple fix.:cheers:

Questions
  • What happens if these things are not done? Any anecdotal info? Breakage?
  • Can I assume this is something everyone should know about and put it in the Husqvarna Important Info area?
  • Any clue how many units or what serial numbers?
 
Interesting! I guess the CR has no problem pulling 13:50, sounds kinda funky to me.
Troy the WR is a much more resilient bike when it comes to rough technical snotty conditions riding, there's no doubt a CR is quicker from point a to b though, wait til you get her in the woods.
 
The bulletin just came out at 5:50 EST today.

I get the impression that they are giving priority shipment to the bikes that are already sold.

I dont think that the gearing is as big of deal as the PV replacement. Dealers were told that the pipes were going to be replaced a while back as some were cracking. CRD made the pipes for Husky and it is supplier issue.

Pretty sure there is only one part number for 125 power valves. Ignition map (digital vs analog) and lighter flywheel set them apart.

yes I agree....perhaps I am expecting too much from it...based on my CR experience

The WR definately pulls.....but it chimes in really late and you cant let it fall off the pipe...I still need more time on it....it really handles like a dream though.....

my CR is much more deep chested...and will accept a big handful of throttle in any gear....it never falls off the pipe

Not fair to not show the diagram.......my mind is off wandering now thinking about girls on trampolines............

Hope you all don't disapoint and it is in reality just one of theoses rubber bisquit dampner tabs for mounting the pipe!

I cringe every time I read this. I hope my 09 WR125 I pick up Sunday does not have less power than the 04 CR125. That would suck. I'm hoping for more even if it is up top.

It's a 2 stroke. Power ups are cheap and easy.

And you could always make it a CR-spec motor if you really wanted to.

I know but i just want it to have more power than my 04 out of the box. Plus I want to keep the lighting coil for night rides / races.

My '09 has plenty everywhere and is better than my '02 WR125. R Little on TT bought my '02 and rides an '04 CR125 with a FBF 135 kit. He was put off at first because how different our bike set ups where. He rides mostly South Jersey sand, which can get real deep. His bike is stock height and forks level, with lots of top end to pull throught the sand. I ride mostly slick off camber with roots and rocks. My bike is lowered, forks up in the clamps and lots of low and mid power. He took it to North Jersey for some rock riding and was amazed at how well it performed in its element compared to his 135. He was popping over 3' logs and such on the '02. He's going to put a trials tire on the rear and use it for all our enduro series rock runs.

That said.... I think my '09 WR125 has better bottom, mid and top than my '02. I haven't dialed in the final carb adjustments, but I think it will get better yet. It is geared 13/52 and has a Power Now installed.

Break it in fully and dial the jetting (which is more than just installing the slide and jet kit) before you pass judgement.
