  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ready to pull the trigger on a leftover 2009 TXC 450. I'd like to get some opinions, comments, things to watch for,etc,etc...
I've been researching quite a bit but really havent found much on this particular model. The bike will see a lot of MX practice track time and some very hard, tight single track as well. My first thoughts are to get a good set of tires and spring it for my weight, 150 lbs.
I wouldnt think the motor would need anything at all other than some carb set up.
I've been a fast A off roader and a novice mx'r. No SX stuuf for me but i can hang it out on a fast outdoor track. This bike seems like it would be a great do it all weapon.

Let me hear it.

That bike is great. It has the sealed 50mm mx forks, 6 speed gearbox, and has great power. Its very reliable. I would do an oil change before you even run it because I found a screw in my dads 09 txc 450 before i even ran it in the strainer screen. And actually the carb set up is pretty spot on for sea level. I would just get a fuel mix screw so its easy to adjust and wire the accelerator pump. Other than that, bleed the excess air out of the forks, put a 50T sproket on the back and thats it. If your doing tight single track raise the forks up in the clamps to the third line, it will make it turn quicker.

Thanks for the reply Mr Dirtbike. What are you referring to when you say wire the accelerator pump?

i picked mine up this afternoon and love it man!! im no where near your riding level, but its a great bike so far for me.

If you take off the black side cover on the carb, you will see a screw with a spring that rests against a black plastic arm. Tie these two together with some saftey wire and bam, instant acceleration and less bog.
