  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2009 TE310 when to overhaul?

Shafiq Zain

Husqvarna
Hey guys.. I bought a second hand 2009 te310 few months back. The bike has been registered for 4 years, but the milage was only 1700km (most likely true because i seen a couple of dirt bikes at his house ktm350 was 1 of em). Now, its almost reaching 2000km. My other friend who's riding the same thing just told me we have to overhaul after every 15 hours of usage. Is that true?? If not, at what milage should we overhaul? Right now the machine is running great.. lotsa power (a lil too much for a newbie like me). Just the engine seems to be running a lil bit noisy. But i sent it to the workshop and the mechanic told me it was nothing.. pleeaassee advice..

Cheers.

You have a big block Italian Husky, like mine, I have 15,000 miles (24,000 km) with no engine rebuild.

Take a vid of the engine running, all warmed up, walk around from one side of the bike to the other, with the camera close to the engine.

Will do soon.. Thanks mate.. I think it sounds a lil bit the same.. Will upload the vid soon.. Thanks..

Best video i have ever seen ever.

Another question mate. Is there any guidelines to sort of follow as to when we need to do the periodic maintenance? And also the overhaul? I'm really confused cause I of the husky riders here told me its like every 15 hours of riding. Is that anywhere near the truth?

Get a compression test done it is cheap and if the rings/piston is worn then other stuff might need doing also. Check your valve clearances. For trail riding I change the oil with fully synthetic every 1000km. Clean the air filter after every few rides or if it is really wet. Oil the chain before every ride and wash it after every ride. Nothing too fancy. I have found that the bike likes to break down every now and then though.

ok, ive changed the setting.. sorry about that mate.

this is what my engine sounds like now.. if you might notice, there's sort of a "clicking" sound on the right side.. any comments?

Almost sounds like a knocking, from the clutch area. Put a long screwdriver handle to your ear, and place the tip on various parts of the motor as it is running, you should be able to pinpoint the source of that clatter.

I've got 10,500 miles on my 09. I have done nothing to the engine! Bike has been rock solid, and I ride it hard. It does burn oil now and has always sounded like a bucket of bolts. Changed the oil about every thousand miles and adjusted the valves a few times. That's it. Oh, I did install a bigger water pump impellor (Husky after market) so, I lied about not doing anything to the engine. :)

Can i get the brand & item name of the bigger pump? What does it help with specifically?
