  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2009 te250 or 2010 te310

Looking at 2 used bikes. The 2010 te310 is completely stock almost new condition 400 mostly road miles. the 2009 250 has a lots of aftermarket parts and around 1000 miles, some racing. Thoughts and opinions regarding both bikes would be appreciated.

Same here. Obviously the one that was raced has probably been run as hard as one ridden on the road at high rpm. I'd love to have the 310's power.

Price should be quite different on these 2 bike for starters and the 310 size engine should well outperform the 250s ...

The 310 is the xlite engine? If so, it has the less-weight advantage ... The older engines are very solid though and perform well ... Just a few pounds heavier ... Not sure on the EFI differences but both might be the Mikuni systems ..

My 08 TXC (CARB) went ~950hrs (~25,000KM ) before the engine needed work so 1,000Ks is nothing UNLESS the bike has been ridden very hard ... Crank it and listen to the engine for excessive noises ... Aftermarket parts are not too exciting to me except in specific cases because Husky parts are mostly good enough ...

Spent about 3 days reading the reviews scattered about in CH here on the 08-09 TE250 models and also on the 310 ...

I would go for the 310.A bike that has been raced may look ok on the outside but could be worn out in places you can't see. Just my .02 worth.

In 2010, the 310 had not yet switched to the x-lite motor.

Thanks for the help here ... So the bikes are basically the same with engines CCs different, same frame(?), maybe suspensions components different but most tend to send them off anyway to be be re-valved, re-stacked, or whatever, but I'm sure both bike handle well ...

Back to price difference as a major play unless you have deep pockets or job security ...

Yeah, price would be a big factor. Although, it would have to be substantially cheaper for me to consider the 250. I wish my 2009 TE250 was a 310. Sometimes I want that little extra grunt.

I have a 2007 TE250 and a 2009 TE310 and I have ridden my neighbor's 2009 TE250 a bunch. All are fine machines but the 310 has noticeably more power, making it the favorite!
