• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2009 TE 310 will not start after a ride...

Hey guys and girls, To start off with, I have just purchased a 2009 TE 310, and i'm loving it! When its running, its a dream and rides great. But unfortunately i'm having a little problem with it. I will go riding with friends, not working the bike too hard, beating around the bush, (WA, Australia) and if i turn the bike off (or occasionally stall it) it wont turn back on... Usually when i first turn the key on, i will hear the fuel pump do its thing for a couple of seconds and then turn off, but when i shut the bike down, and turn the key back on again, i can hear the relay/solenoid click, but no fuel pump come on. I then will have to wait 30 miunutes for what every is causing the problem to reset/cool down, and then im away again... I have tried to disconnect the temperature sensor, that gets the fan spinning but it doesn't allow the fuel pump to start. Anyone had a similar problem, and know how to fix this? Cheers JT

Check your wiring for any chafing and bare wire that might be grounding out. If nothing found, the pump is probably getting hot and seizing up due to accumulated junk inside the pump. How many miles on the bike? Have you ever had the fuel pump assembly out of the bike, to check and see if the pump is riding up out of the strainer?

Has only done just over 1000km, not even 1000miles yet. That was my next step, pull it apart and see. i think the guy before me may have had it out...
Cheers, will see how that goes!

Like my bike, this bike probably is suffering from a varnished up fuel pump.

A 2009 bike was probably manufactured in Sep of 2008, had some gasoline put in it and started up. Now divide 1000 miles by 57 months, that's about 20 miles a month average. That's just not enough activity to keep varnish from building up inside the tightly-toleranced pump. When the bike gets hot, the fuel pump tolerances get even tighter, and the pump seizes up, is not a very powerful motor. When it cools down and shrinks, it' will start up again.

Mine did that for the first time the other day, but mine wasnt hot it happened after washing and not starting it for a few days.
In my case it isnt a bad pump because my jd tuner wasnt lighting up, meaning no power to the pump. See if you can test if it is getting power with a multimeter first.

Just make sure the red button on the LHS bar is fully out otherwise it will not start. I know you have covered this already-just sayin goot luck

Hi john I have a 08 te450 which I have the same problem I have had the pump out changed fuel filter and bench tested it stopping and starting it a few times then all of a sudden it won't operate so I tapped it with a screw driver and it started up again so it's time for new fuel pump .i found when out riding and it wouldn't start I would hit lower part of fuel tank and it would start up again and would be all good.If your looking for a new pump there is a place in Victoria www.ogilviesroadautomotives.com.au they have pumps for huskies $135 including postage within aus hope this helps.
