  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi All

Following on from this thread:
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/reasons-not-to-buy-a-new-2008-te450.21295/#post-188018

First off, thanks for all the informative posts made,
However it turns out the same dealer has a brand new stil-in-crate 2010 TE510.

Pricewise, once I have put the 450 into race mode with the new exhaust etc, the 450 and the 510 will cost me virtually the same.
On paper the 450 and 510 are identical bikes except for the longer stroke of the 510, 50 more cc's and a bit more torque and 1 or 2 more ponies.

Originally I wanted the 450 because i heard it revs freeer and more importantly it runs cooler than the 510.

However I am tempted to get the 510 because being a 2010 model it has 2 years of improvements over 2008 450 model such as kayaba forks, decals-in-plastic, revised rear swing arm etc etc.

Of importance to me is: fuel range, cool running, nimble feel and chuckability.

So what do you guys think ?

TIA

Get the 2010 450, less problems, read Dan's thread here about the 510
Yeah, Dans thread belongs under the HORROR STORIES section and not under the 4 strokes section.
Tell me that Dan's thread is more the exception than the rule.

And, unfortunately, there is no 2010 TE450 available, only a 2008 TE450 - hence this thread.

Yep people will post when they do have problems more often than people saying that are happy on forums with such and such product,+1 on getting the 510 and be happy with all the torque

Well, thanks to all the inmates who posted on this thread.

Today, I finally pulled the trigger on the 2010 510.:busted:

Chose the 2010 510 because of :
The 2 Years extra development and ironing out of issues over the 2008 450.
The sheer grunt of the 510.
