• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2008 NE Husky Gathering (in case you didn't know)

Sounds great and can't wait! We will be arriving on Friday evening some time and planning on camping. I think I already told you that in an email though. Also, if you're looking for something else to do on Saturday night, maybe a charity poker tourney to help out the one in need or maybe RiderDown.org? Just a thought and maybe for another year considering how close it is now.

This does sound like a good time. Let's hope that all the nice weather we've been having up here lately (finally!) continues.

Due to my personal relation with the Lord, he assures me good weather. No feller named "Gustav" is done welcome in these here parts. Either way good times.
Joe
PS Swag for raffle keeps coming in! Yeah! Picking up shirts tommorow and once I see them I will let the design out of the bag as a "sneak preview" to wet the appetite of the event.

bumpity bump bump...

Hey Joe I did some digging and found some anti-swag for you, or maybe it's swag? Feel free to use these as a prize however you see fit. I'll mail these items (in one package) to whoever you tell me too - I don't want to mail multiple packages though.

Wish I could be at the gathering this year.

These are new - I did not want a fork skin that needed to have the forks taken off.

This image is supposed to be updated automatically... looks like a damp Saturday night of bench racing.

I had a great time during my one day there, despite the dreary weather Sat. and my brain-fart of forgetting the key to my 610. :dummy: Thanks to Eurofreak for letting me take a loop on his bike so I got some saddle time in. The loop Joe laid out was really good. And thanks to all the others who offered to let me ride their bikes. Turns out the loop was snotty enough that it would have been a bit of work on my very worn rear karoo. :D I wasn't there for Sunday, but if the weather was anything like back in Mass. then it must have been great.

It was also great meeting everyone and I will definitely plan to attend again next year, wherever it is. Big thanks to Joe for hosting and all the work putting in on. I won some great swag in the raffle. The sponsors really stepped up donating stuff and there was plenty there. I'm not sure how the turn-out was compared to last year, but too bad there weren't more folks there. I'm sure Hanna had something to do with it.

Good job.

Hey all
Got a virus on my main machine at home but heres a little update off the laptop and a Wi Fi I hit while driving this a.m.
Stats...........
total weekend attendees.......32
total weekend riders..............27
total huskys ........................25 (actually some riders had multiple machnes)
Vintage.................................0 (We gota fix that!)
2 strokes 5 3 125.....2 250
4 strokes 20 (yeah even some 610's in the saturday rain & mud!)
oldest husky 2001

Weather on sat started as a mist then a little heavier then a steady........just enought to let you know it was raining but not enough to feel (except for the wetness) that it was raining. 7 mile loop held up well despite the pounding of the bikes. Grass track stayed primo despite the rai and nice berms began to form. Woods in the pine groves (Always moist here in the NE) began to get tougher as the day went on but some nice single track stayed well and did not rut up. Log crossings got tougher and those damn 510's and 610's seem to like moving even big loggs more and more "diagonal" across the trail for those folowing. Mae everything interesting.
Despite the Sun clear forecast, some decided to pack it in on sun morning. Two fold reason, thy had 5 plus hour drives home and about 6 otherswere racing on sunday and departed after we had the first swag giveaway session on saturday. There was so much stuff to give away. several trellborg tires from WER, certificates for a front and rear suspension revalve from LTR (actually 4 of them! Thanks Les!) multiple of anything that 7602 had for a Husky in all kinds of blingy colors and well made too, some Y's, axle nuts, filters, and shirts from uptite,Several gift certificates from Bottones, Shirts, posters, fleeces, more T shirts, grips, hats, and other cool Husky aparel from Fox powersports, New various Plastics for yelow and also red Huskys from me and Norm. 2 smoke Golden spectro and gear oil as well as a ton of awsome hats from Spectro......everyone got oil.........Thanks to spectro! And in keeping the "everybody gets some" theme going..........Harv from A.C.E. suspension decided to give all attendees certificate for $50 off any of his services.
The raffle will enable our little Husky Family to get some nice comfort items for Jean Foley as she continues her medical treatment and recovery.
It was good to put names to faces and I would gladly welcome any and all to the house at any time..........rain or shine (read as a repeat of sat and sunday .....LOL!) Good to see how cool all were and pooled together and not only rode but did something really nice for one of our own. Spouses seemed to have a good time even in the rain of saturday. A lady friend of mine did awsome as hostess and the amenitie of the house proved to be a value on the rain of saturday. Evening bench racing was good and lots of bike DVD's and a special treat was provided by speed to air the 2007 Vegas Enduro cross with Knight "ghosting" his bike as a sign of poor sportsmanship and loud shouts of boos and hisses by the husky faithful watching. The trails held up nice for Sunday for about the18 or so that remained. Trails were nicer but still a litle slick in spots ( well for me on a 125 for sure..........I swear I saw 2 moles and a chipmunk fly by my head mixed in the roost from some 510's!) Had some imprmptu wash rack setup outside and if anyone needs claen fill, there is at least several yards of nice dark topsoil in a pile!. Then we ate again and had typical BBQ stuff and brews and soda and beans for the guys who had long drives home (heh-heh). A nice surprise was some red and white wines as well as a huge shrimp ring so Fran Bottones and Terry Fox could practice "hob nobbing" at the upcoming Husky dealers meeting ! LOL!
All was fun and no injuries......just some bumps and bruises......and the irony on broken plastics in the woods..........the guys who win the plastics never seem to break any......go figure.
Already scheming for next year and trying to see about fixing he lack of vintage problem.
Norms daughter goes o school close by and cameo appearances by him over the event brough crys of "NORM!!" that would have made the cast from "Cheers" proud.
All in all good....nah.......great times and even though we had a guest appearance from the "other" Hurricane Hanna(h) on Sat it was good. Hope all that are in the Hurricane belt are doing ok and all safe too.

Enough for now and will get some photos up later.

Joe

Looking forward to seeing some pics. Huge props to you Joe for putting it on! Sorry about those hurricanes.

I wish i could have attended but work and weather kept me away. I had been looking forward to it all year, just to find out about work 2 days before. Just some suggestions for next year would be possibly looking to do it during the summer. Its easier during that time for families to travel due to this last week was the first week of school for our kids. traveling that far away is easier and not needing to return so fast if the rest of the family is there. It allows some to make a longer family vacation. Plus it would allow family members to helpout with the food and such. Wives cooking and men riding. Except for the femail riders of course. Also the weather is usually better. So im up for a summer time run. Plus its better than waiting a full year for this to come up again. I cant wait to see pictures also.

Something is wrong with your links Joe....

If you want to email me links I can probably help - those should not get mangled. Or perhaps you have someone more technical that can help at your end.
