  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc 2008 cr165 need bottom end works what needed to look for

My 2008 cr165 started to make a funny noise in bottom end at end of last race. Took it it out again for ride today and it sounded worse. Took ignition cover off and can feel free play a little up and down and side to side so it needs to be split before more damage is done. The bike has way over 200 hours and most was mx riding so I am not upset about it, bike has been good. Is there anything to look for while its split. It is to bad that it could not have lasted another 2 hours so I could have finished off road race series with it since it was setup great for off road. I own a stock 2013 wr 125 that I will use for last race a change over to 165 this winter . My plan is to sell 2008 and changed it back to 125 unless somebody wants to buy it as 165 set up for woods. I have never split a motor but have a young freind who has split yz 125 motors many times. Is there any specail tools needed. Thanks for any help.

You have to remove the topend anyway, you could swap it over to the WR in a couple of hours and at least race the familiar motor? Your YZ buddie's skills and tools should cross over to the Husky motor just fine.

I could put lectron carb and 165 top end off 2008 on 2013 wr but my 200 sx pipe on my 2008 will not fit on 2013 and not sure how it would run with stock 125 pipe or would it take some setting up. My 2013 wr 125 was raced buy a buddy who had his bike blow up last race and seemed to run good for stock bike. I have 2013 wr125 jetted close and stock suspension seems ok. If I had more time I would get wr bike set up with whole 165 setup but with so little time I would hate to run untested bike setup in race. Thanks for help.
