• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2007 te610 speedo is going crazy

Hey guys,

bike has 22k km

I just installed a Britannia fairing on my bike and with the new dash being slightly higher then the factory mounts for the speedo, the wires/connections are being stressed. My speedo is flashing and I read up on it and basically everyone says to get ready to buy a new one. my question is I can clearly see wires being pulled out to far. If I extend the wires going to the speedo and get rid of any stress on them will it fix it? because I cant see the speedo just dying like that.

I like the stock computer and id rather not have to get a new one.

any advice is appreciated

thanks

I would suggest instead of lengthening individual wires is to pull the tank and dash to adjust the harnesses to get a little more length where you need it. If you have to lengthen wires get some water proof butt splices or solder and heat shrink. If the gauges were not a problem before remounting them, this should not have caused a failure (unless it was dropped or something).

I did pull the tank and I managed to get a bit more length out of it. the speedo was working fine for a week after the install then one day everything just started to flash. it was not dropped.

my thought is that the power wire is maybe the problem as it just keeps trying to go through the starting sequence. but that's just my guess.

it was a loose wire, the solid red 12v power wire to be more specific. if any one else has this problem check the plug. took me 3 minutes to fix it up!
