  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

AA Class
I was irolling down the trails at about 70 miles an hour when my back tire came to a skidding halt and the motor was partially locked. however I was able to push the bike backwards and the motor makes a partial revolution until it stops. And then it rotate forward for a partial revolution. Anyone know what could be interfering. I took the stator cover of off to see ifif that was the problem but it's okay must be something internal to the motor. Any idea what to look at next?
Thx

at first thought, I think you've likely dropped a valve. pull your intake plenum and exhaust off, you should be able to see the valve stems.

Same thing happened to me on one of my X-lites. For me it was a broken third gear sprocket. It was during a competition. I pulled the bike back and it let go. So off again and a couple of hundred meters later same thing but worse. I bent both forks in the gearbox and broke both sprockets on 3rd and 4th gear. I dont say that this is your problem but you have reached my step ONE. Be glad you did not get it to run again. Probably saved you som dollars :).

I had this happened and thought the worst. It was actually a sprocket bolt that had backed out and hit the swingarm.

Yeah unfortunately it is not the sprocket bolts. It might be a gear. I believe I was in 6th when it locked up.

If you still have both thumbs in working condition its not that difficult to tear the engine apart. Download the tech PDF and follow the steps. The pictures and text is top notch. You cant fail . You will need some tools but you can make them yourself. The parts is sheap.
