• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2006 TE 610 died on the trail... need help

Husqvarna
C Class
Hello all,

Just had the bike die 100 miles from nowhere in eastern oregon. The dash was going crazy. It wouldn't turn over. The battery did not test well under load once we reache civilization. People have said that it might be the rectifier/regulator? I am able to bump or jump start it just fine. The battery was brand new and always on the battery tender. Any clues? Nice long story to go along with this mishap as well... 60 miles in the dark of eastern oregon using only a headlamp to light my way.......

Put a volt meter on the battery terminals jump start the bike and see if the alt is pushing the battery voltage to 14 vdc. If the regulator is bad the battery will either not show increased voltage or it will spike over 15vdc and fry the battery.

Take shut bike down and see if battery voltage stays over 12.2 ish vdc.

My guess is just a bad battery.

2006 TE 610 Display Disco

The display will go crazy when the main 20A fuse blows. Check the fuse; it's located next to the flasher unit under the left-hand side panel.

The problem is often that the wiring harness on the 06 is too short so it binds and pulls at wires that aren't overly excited about being pulled on.:banghead:

I unclipped the wiring harness holder on the left side of the steering head to give the harness more room to move. Also, you might pull the plug from the back of the display and make sure that all of the wires are long enough to reach the pins; mine were not. While you have the plug out, try spreading a layer of dielectric grease along it to assist in continuity.

I blew the main fuse a number of times with that happy-happy dashboard disco, but haven't blown one since working on it, and the display has been fine.

Another P-Town Husqvarmit. Thank you for the tips, I will check the connectors and fuses. I haven't even looked at the bike since the trip, or unpacked. I hope the fix is that simple.
