  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I’m at my wits end here boys and girls. I’ve got the bike mentioned above and I can not get it started. It’s been months since I’ve last had it running. I have had the carb rebuilt, new spark plug, new air filter and just replaced the ignition coil. The only thing I can say is immediately after replacing the coil it started up and ran for about a minute and I shut it down to get ready for a test ride. Came back and it wouldn’t start again. Any advice on some things I could check? Any advice is appreciated!

Well you haven't mentioned if you currently have spark. I think I would start there. Then ensure that you are getting fuel to the carburetor. How is the compression? Need to have some diagnostic information before we can provide more input.

Spark is intermittent which is where I’m focusing most of my energy and the compression is good in the most basic sense as I have pressure on my kick start until I pull the decompression lever

Yeah, sounds like you need to get the spark issue sorted. Lots of wiring issues on these bikes so take a good look at all of the connections. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Of course fellas. Thanks for the input. I’m going for the stator and pick up coil next. I’ve found one that I’m hoping is going to work so I let everyone know what the outcome is. Thanks again!
