    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

2006 Te 250 Any Good?

Hi guys, sorry for another thread asking if a bikes any good. but you lot are the ones who are in the know on husky bikes.

I have a offer on the table to acquire a 10/2005 so 2006 model te 250, for a straight trade on my motard.

My questions are,
Are they reliable?
How hard are parts to source? I have no issue with a small wait, but dont want to have a bike i cant get bits for.
Common Faults?

The bike has 2300km on the clock, but was re-built at 1500km because the first owner drowned the bike and left water standing in it for too long.. (new crank/rod/piston) Unsure if they replaced the cylinder.

Im only a light rider and am happy with its power output (for now)..

Advice please and thanks in advanced...

I Have an 07, which is about 98% the same as an 06. Mine has been a very, very good bike for me - it has 356 hrs and 10,000km. Set it up properly, take care of the bike and it will take care of you.
 
Good machine...just get an aluminum "Y" pipe and don't overheat it and it will run forever.

Valve adjustments are a breeze, parts are everywhere.

It's a part made by Uptite racing to replace the plastic 'T' that splits the coolant between rads. It helps the bikes cool a lot easier and prevents blowouts from the stock plastic part if it gets too hot.

However, it's really not needed on a 250 unless you're only riding tight technical single track in 105 degree weather with high humidity. I've tried numerous times to overheat my 250's and haven't succeeded yet. One has the Y, one doesn't.
 
Oh, thanks, I don't think that's an issue for me in Southern California. It can get warm in the deserts, but I'm not usually ridding there in the summer. Uptite is only about 10 min from my office so I can always stop in there.
