  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2006 TC250 hot starting issues

Rode Friday and Saturday at Loretta Lynn's Ranch and the bike ran great both days. May actually need to richen up the mixture a bit though, it was a little tough to get going in the morning in the cooler temps. Had to let it warm up with choke on for quite a few minutes. After it got to temperature and I tried adjusting it a little, it seemed to be in the right spot and was easy to start when it was hot.

Hoping I didn't damage any of the internals running so hot before. I'd rather not rebuild this thing anytime soon. I got enough projects with all my old bikes at the moment, would like to not have to worry about a bike this new...the newest thing I own.

Those are tough bikes, and if you did not know, that bikes bottom end is the same as on the 450/510 bikes of that and similar years.

Cool, that's what I had read before buying this one. One of the reasons I considered it over some other bikes. It is smoking a little when I first fire it up, but it seems to go away after it's warmed up. And I'm talking slight smoke. Probably about time for rings, I really have no idea how many hours are on this engine.

I found a 300 Athena kit for it recently, but I'm not sure I want to put another $700 into it right now and take a chance of making it run hotter with a big bore after the trouble I've been having. What I've read about them sounds good in theory, more torque, but I'd rather not risk the higher temps when it's running fine for now.

My 2006 TE250 has always done that, typically it is oil coming from the engine vent into the airbox, getting into the intake - especially when it is slightly over filled with oil.
