  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2006 TC 510 CRACKED CASE *BACKFIRE*

Husqvarna
B Class
WP_20151130_001.jpg I have had the worst day ever!!! My 06 Husky TC510 decided to backfire so hard that it shoved the kick starter through the case. I was warned of this when I bought the bike and took extra caution to ensure it did not do this and it happened anyway. Im searching ebay for a fix but if someone has a dead horse laying around or parts id really like to get this back running. its too much fun to watch it sit and collect dust. I know the 450/510 TE/TC/SMR from 06-08 all are the same....please help a fellow husky enthusiast!

The 250s are the same as well i believe. I have never heard of this. I have a 08 510, thanks a lot ........
Can you get a new case from husky or SWM?

I had it happen, you gotta do the starting drill EVERY time. Mine was a 06 SMR/TC 450 combo. Kick only conversion.

Thats gonna be deeper than the cover. Ive seen the carnage. I think i see the crack right thru the center cases, just like mine was too. Ugh. Sorry man.

Without E start, your best odds are to follow the old thumper starting drill. Find TDC, comp release, drop past, return, kick firmly. Still not 100% but you have a better chance of avoiding it.

I have a 14 hours 2006 TC450 all just broken in, and when it had around 8 hours on it I offered it as a part out and was offered a staggering $400 for the engine..... Hahahaha!

Honestly, and I shoulda taken my own advice, get rid of it and move on to something more current. If you find an engine and rebuild it you woulda spent as much as upgrading to a better machine, more modern and I hate to bag on it, more durable.

I found mine with 4 lawn ridden hours on it, nary a scratch. Waxing sentimental I grabbed it, it was the bike I raced i to the A class on. Then I rode it. Then I revalved it and rode it again. Its time has passed, and passed it hard too. I have $4000 dumped into mine, its as good as it will get now and its OK as s trail bike. My EXC530 was far and away better though.

I am coming from a 2001 yz 426 that i bought new. Then i get this 08 tc510 and it is like night and day. I dont know how much better a newer bike could be. The only thing is lighter and FI i guess. I should try out someones newer bike and see but man i love my Italian Husky!

I think if my case does do this I would repair not part out. If i can get parts......

This thread inspired me to find an E-start kit and delete my kicker completely. Ive had a buddy grab my current TC and just blindly kick it to go across the parking lot without asking. They dont know and who would, right? The button goes on this week, fingers crossed, and that will be that.

If I was sure Id be the only one to ever start it, even then Id be nervous. Lol. Its too nice an example to let this happen to it.

Please tell us what the starting drill is that can prevent this from happening:thinking:

That post above covers it, when you find the comp stroke, decomp with the lever and drop the kicker about 1". Then return it to the top without moving it any further until you kick, firmly and fully to the bottom.

If you move it too far or mess up, start the drill over!!!

Bills and they gave me a good deal on it. Anyone with a kick only Id encourage to call them and clear their shelves. I think they now have three left. Im promising myself this is my very last big block Italian! Hahaha!
