  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2005 TE510, Any must do mods for Euro bikes ?

Husqvarna
B Class
Hey guys,

Just wondering if there's anything specific i should do on a stock TE510 to unleash any extra power/torque etc.

Bike is new to me and came with 800 miles on the clocks, i get the impression it's 100% stock out of the factory.

So... anything i should do standard ? I'll be leaving the exhaust as the standard due to noise limitations for riding offroad in UK.

Currently running rubbish gearing, but not bought a new dirt chain just yet due to lack of funds (and ability)

Hi Weeksy,

If it is an 05 (check the chassis number, letter before the V confirms the year) then IMHO that is one of the best years. 05 has a balancer in it which they took out on later bikes and runs smaller valves in the head but with thicker valve stems than 04. Nice power delivery, good reliability and smooth to ride. Not ultimately as fast as 06/07 but more than enough for most people and nicer to ride for longer.

Gear it to suit your use and spend the money on getting the suspension dialled in to suit you is all I'd suggest.

Dave

Thanks Dave.

Suspension is a tough one as the bike is currently being used for off-road, but will go into summer trim with the Excels and new plastics once we get back to summer. Obviously the suspension settings will be very different for both.
Currently i've left it as it came to me as it's plush, soft and nice on the lanes. Couple of my mates have ridden it with a lot more experience on dirt than me and loved the bike.

TBH, raw speed doesn't really come into it for me. I have a Superduke (for now) and a Gixer600 (techincally the wifes) if i want flat out speed... but i don't to be honest.

Any recommendations for a 14st bloke for settings either road or dirt as a baseline ? Obviously in the UK there's people like MH, MCtechincs,K-tech etc to set it up for me but have not got around to that yet. I usually use Colin at 100% suspension (Ohlins technician) but don't know if his skills on track machines will translate into dirt/SM world at all.

Need to look into the gearing too actually, but at the moment it's set what my mates would call too tame, however for me being inexperienced off-road, tame is quite nice :)

If you are only green laning with it and happy with how it feels currently then maybe you don't need to do much! Std factory settings are normally suitable for 12/13 stone racing so pretty close for your use.

If you want to talk to someone with a lot of experience on the Husky with Marzocchis then try Chris 'Kiwi' Hockey (Dr Shox) - he knows them inside out and is far better qualified to offer advice on suspension.

Get a G2 throttle with the 400 cam on it. Makes them easier to ride through the gnarley stuff

I saw a thread on this somwhere else on here, but didn't know if that related to the older carb'd models or just the newer FI ones. I've owned Superdukes so am aware of the improvements they make on FI's.

Interesting to know they improve the carb's too.

Wow.... i think my bike is soon to become totally insane... Checked the gearing today as it was set to run 1 chain for both road and dirt...

14 42 ...

Stock is 14 50.... 8 teeth...

Obviously i ordered a new C&S set right away... i think the world is about to get a bit crackers :)
