  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

2000 cr125 ratcheting noise at idle?

The needle was at the bottom clip actually. So cannot go any leaner. I put it at the middle and will test when it stops raining here in a day or two.

If it was at the bottom clip then its rich . To lean out you need to drop the needle into the main so from the bottom its 12345 should be as std in the middle to allow properly, if its still buhhwahaaaaa on mid clip go to the top 5 and see if thats any better, its a pain but you will get there

and dont skip sizes or needle positions. always move by one jet size at a time or one clip at a time

I tried with the needle down. I meant that the needle CLIP originally was at the top not bottom. I wrote that wrong. So "leanest" position.

I moved it to the middle with the air screw reset and it still bogs bad.

Also Tinken,

I unscrewed the air screw and it had no effect on the bogging. I really think I am just too rich on the pilot.....next step before any adjustments is to check the power valve operation. Somehow.

I didnt measure it but the ring gap was right in the middle of the range when I head the top end off.

The head had lots of little nicks like maybe a plug broke in it or there was some previous damage. I just put new o-rings and put the cyl back on. I think the noise is powervalves.

Its not power valves - I can tell you that - they only open at higher revs
Its a constant noise - like a rotation sound
my bikes have sounded like that will have to check my newer bike again but
I think the noise is probably normal -
you need to post a video of your bike sound

just ride

I had one awhile back that made a little rattle noise at idle only?? and with any throttle went away it eneded up being loose crank nut and the drive gear was working back and forth ,it was funny because the guy had the idle turned up high when I bought it off him for only $800 and he was happy as he thought he was sticking me with a lemon LOL ,an hours labor and gasket /crank woodruff key and silent and I had one cherry 2004 Cr125.

I wouldn't drop the pilot below 30 and I doubt going down 5 will change much. It's possible you have a plugged orfice. Have you boiled the carb since you purchased?
