  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc 2000 cr125 clutch at end of lever?

I assume that my clutch is worn out but am unsure if it will need a basket.

I have about 10mm of clutch play all the way at the end of the lever. I also get some clutch drag when at idle and trying to find neutral is hard.

With the condition the bike was in, I am figuring a minimum of plates, frictions, and springs.


How common is it for the basket to need replacement?

I vaguely rember the previous owner saying the clutch was worked on but still was dragging and might need a basket.

Searching revealed baskets are outrageously price :O


Any hints or tips?
 
As far as the clutch basket, Fast by Ferracci sells a nice basket for relatively cheap. As long as you have the 2 piece drive gear
 
I believe they are different. Sorry for the false lead.

But KTM-Parts has just the basket for yours listed on their website. Their back order system on Husky parts isn't that great so you don't know if it is in stock until a few days after your order.

Another option would be to call Bill's Husky. I recently replace the basket in my 250 and they had a used one in their shop that they shipped out that day. :thumbsup:

To address your other questions:

The free play is pretty normal and you should be able to adjust the cable and remove that. As for the dragging, mine was doing this pretty bad even with new plates, basket, and springs. I switch the gearbox oil to ATF and the problem went away. What kind of oil are you running in your gearbox?
