  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1st TE511 Flame Out

River-Runner

Husqvarna
AA Class
So I've got about 350 miles on my 2012 TE511 and had my first flame out. Was coasting down a hill getting ready to climb a hill coming up and I add some throttle - Pop! and the motor dies and I'm dead on the hill, then on the ground.

I am not amused.

If the TPS reset doesn't do it for you, loading BMW#3 maps into the stock ecu should. I haven't had a flame out to date after doing so, and I have purposely tried to.

I do not have a JD or PC5. I have stock with #3 maps loaded.
When I bought the 2012, I asked the dealer for a 2013 map, which he said was loaded. Not too sure though. I don't have a local Husky dealer, but there is BMW dealer. I'll have to see if he can load#3.

Since 2012, they have had 3 maps (not that they are going to tell you). The bikes come loaded with #1 stock. The dealer has the option of going to #2 if problems persist. I kinda skipped #2 and went straight to 3, my bad... The HST disk should have all three maps loaded onto it. Map #3 isn't legal on a street licensed motorcycle, it's not like it is anywhere as rich as a JD or PC5...

Thanks. I still have an HST tool in my garage after I sold my shop. It has been in the box for almost a year collecting dust. I am seriously thinking about grabbing a TE449 just as a dual sport/trail bike.
