  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1st Ride 2010 TE510

Hi Guys

Just picked up a 2010 TE510 in as new condition ( only 15kms on the clock )

I used to ride a Yamaha WR450 and this thinig is smooth... one issue though. The front engine mounts loosened up after the first 40kms on the track... attempting to tighten the bolts on the ride but still loosened up again ( will investigate .. ) any ideas to ensure they stay tight ???

As the bike is still new also seems quite tight and quite rattling.. I presume this will settle down ??? any experience with this ??? ( it did help when the engine mounting bolts were tight...

1st day did 140 kms and very enjoyable.. good linear power and heaps down low..

Certainly feels very different than the yamaha but enjoying the ride

THX FOR NOW

G'day Ric, yes keep an eye on those bolts, you will get pins and needles from that vibration. A bit of loctite will help. The rear floating disc will probably rattle, mine does. Keeping a bit more weight over the front end seems to make the bike work better. Find out if the wiring loom has been replaced, mine and others have failed and replace on warranty.

The above is true, however after a while you do not notice the vibes. These 510's are a real tractor and are a top and reliable bike. Just do the maintenance, check over the bike periodically and you will get a lot of wonderful miles on her.

they are great machines.
yes, you gotta watch the bolts ever few hundred km" s.

those engines are very sensitive to tunning.
a noisy and or vibrating engine is a sign of bad tunning.
get the tunning right and the engine is quiter and smoother.
get yoursIelf a JD Tuner so that you can experiment with the fueling yourself on the fly.

Also, run the oil level a bit below the full mark.
Too much oil increases engine vibrations.

I got Michelin Enduros as the stock tyres, ever since I changed them out to a tyre that suits my type of riding, I am enjoying the bike a whoooole lot more.

HI there

Had second ride yesterday and all good..
bolts tightened and locktite works well.. noissue with bolts coming undone...

Bike is riding better.. but this 75 KMs before the fuel lights comes on is a concern... will have to fit a bigger tank.. we like to ride a good 200kms per day
about to do 1st oil change... thx for the info to keep the oil low..

vibrations still there but bike settling in well

thx for now
