Hello all, I went to start my beautiful motorcycle today since it is pretty much all back together after repainting the frame, repacking all the suspension bearings, new plastics from DC plastics, getting out the dents in the exhaust, chain&sprockets, etc., and making it pretty all around.
Bike started a few days ago on the fourth kick. Nothing has changed with the ignition system since then. Yesterday I kicked and kicked and it would not start (proper kicks from TDC); the first few kicks weren't very determined on my part so I assumed from that point it was flooded.
Today I got it out and it still wouldn't start after many tries. I pulled out the plug and it looked slightly wet, so I dried it off and cycled the engine for a bit to clear out any built up gas. Put it back in and no luck. I then pulled out the plug dried it off again and pressed it against the head while kicking, and there was no spark. Tried a few different plugs; no luck. Checked wires for continuity and the ground is good, kill button isn't shorted, and all the wires are connected. Not sure how the stator/pvl is supposed to work and I don't know what impedance should be reading from the two wires coming out of it.
It has been dreadfully hard to start in the past sometimes, and push starting it has worked. After that, kicking it seems to be alright. I think it might work this time too, but it would be cool to actually start the bike with the kickstarter
I'm just concerned about the no spark; it should be sparking when I kick it with the plug held against the head, right?
.
Sorry for the bad lighting. You sort of see the stator. I think it is an aftermarket PVL or whatever but I really don't know.
