  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The bike still won't start. I thought it might have been flooded so I took of the pipe to see if there was any gas in it and it was dry. Turns out on of the brackets on the pipe were broken so the pope wasn't actually seated right on the exhaust port. Welded the bracket back together and now the pipe is solid on the bike. But it still won't start. Beginning to think it has something to do with the air fuel delivery. Just to see what would happen I pulled the bike behind my quad and had a friend try to bump start it. While the engine was turning it was poping and smoking but it would not start. Not sure what I should do. It has 143 psi for compression, fresh fuel, changed oil. I cleaned the tank, tank lines, petcock, and the carb. The bike has a strong blue spark. Currently it does not have an air fliter because the one that was on it was disintegrating. Cleaned the reed cage and the reeds looked fine. Any ideas?

Ok so you know how much compressions there, your pipe is dry and it pops when trying to bumpstart.
I suggest check carb is functioning so strip it look for gummed pilot jet and stuck needle jet. While your there check your air boot carb side for any cracks or damage.
Remove stator cover and yank the flywheel, could be way out if the woodruff key has sheared.
If that's solid check your back plate is in the correct position there should be a line stamped into the plate under the top screw make sure this is in line with the one on the engine.
If that's all good track your wiring your looking for any tape or any cut wires.
If all that looks good your bike should run.
Air
Fuel
Spark
Thats what I would check.
