• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So huskyborn, whats the deal? You got a line on a bike for sale? You looking at a particular bike? Just thinking about getting one of these? If you are looking at a bike do you have pictures for us? We may be more helpful if we knew more about your inquiry.

i like the cr tank as well in the woods. i only have one cr unit but i like the xc/wr tank for longer rides.
Yes, I agree.....but lets face it, these bikes don't need to be any heavier (or bigger)

i can get about 3-4 hours out of the cr tank, really depends on the riding. the 430 is a bit thirstier...

$500 dang thats a good deal well worth that in parts alone. Having raced 87 CR since the early 90s there are a few things to know and check. The kick start shaft bearing seems to go bad easily and then you can have a cracked clutch cover or case. Take a look at the welds around the swing arm were the swing arm bolt goes threw. You got remember these bikes are getting close to the thirty years old. Shock rebuild is going to be close $200 piston about the same. So be advised you are probley going to be spending some money. They are shakes too! Bunches of vibes many times I have seen double on mine. They are bit to kick over and like to go straight take some time to learn how to turn quickly.
Now the good, fast and torque to the moon. A blast to ride. You will get a ton of looks form everyone and when you get her on the pipe hang on. I love my 430s have two 87 430 CRs and one XC that is a project. Many parts are available more now I think then when I got my bike when she was a few years old. The only quirky thing with the XC is the SEM ignition, I like the Motoplat myself. Getting a little off topic I like the CR tank way better. I have had a 87 250 WR that I had for about 15 years that when I got it had second gear out. Finally got it fixed last year. I really like the bike but I don't like the big tank feels way top heavy when you have it filled compared to the CR. Maybe it's because when you have rode a CR for 25 years it takes some time to get use to the other. Good luck hope you get it.

2premo, is that an uptite racing pipe on your wr430? If so....what did it do to / for the power compared to stock?
