• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1987 xc tank and shroud swap

dirtydog

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi,
i have a 1987 430xc and would like to fit a cr tank to it, I've noticed on the parts fiche that the xc radiator shrouds have a different part number, can the xc shrouds be adapted to the cr tank?
xc right shroud p/n 15 13 855-01
cr right shroud p/n 15 13 804-01

any help would be great,

DD.

The right hand side shrouds do look very similar between the 1987 CR,XC & WR. But the Enduro tank appears to be slightly wider and of course taller. I think the main difference is the CR shrouds follow a much straighter line whereas the WR/XR shrouds are curved and actually wrap around near the top of the fuel tank. Also the CR plastics have 115mm of straight edge above the husqvarna ironsight where as the XC/WR plastics have only 100mm. The screw holes under the seat are the same dimensions at 245mm centre to centre so I guess the XC plastic would attach there and at the radiator too, but might look a little strange:confused:?

the shrouds are different and do not swap between cr and wr/xc. the seat is the same, so when swapping tanks you must move the shrouds along with it or the fit is poor and breakage is likely. tank and shrouds and same between wr/xc.
squires is correct in that the cr tank is much shorter and a little narrower.

Thanks for your input guys, it would appear that the cr shourds are NLA and can not even be purchase aftermarket, please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have both and they look similar, but it ends there
good luck finding CR parts, thought decent XC or WP parts were tough, these are unobtanium
