• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1984 250 WR Swingarm needed - where to find?

AA Class
I have acquired a basket-case 1984 250 WR, it looks to be pretty much all there, except the swingarm. I am looking for a swingarm, and wondering what years might be compatible with the 1984 model, if any. I know the 1983 looks similar.... Anybody???

I edited the title slightly.

I would say welcome! But it appears you have been a member for a long time, even though this is your first post.

The '83 & '84 WR swing arms are the same. The cr swing arm is longer. Where to find one? eBay or post wanted in the classifieds here.

Could do with one myself! At a push, you could modify a CR swing arm by adding the 2 vertical slots on the bottom of the right side to take the rear brake tie strip - but the arm is a little longer...

i have a pile of swingers i could dig thru if you end up not being able to find one. i do remember seeing two different lengths. the xc and cr share same lengths, right? the cr should have no kickstand?

thank you, i had wondered about that, as sometimes the kickstand and or chain roller tensioner bracket has been removed rather expertly! sometimes not so expertly...

The 1984 or at least the last series have a sort of pusher bolt on the chain side to kind of assist the chain adjuster.

There are a lot of parts in a swingarm assembly if it is missing. Having bought the o rings, bearings, and hard parts the bearings ride on for probably more than a whole "swingarm" goes for now on ebay I know. Then there is the thing that puts some tension on the chain.

Chain tentioner, lower twin roller guide, upper roller. The WR swing arm is shorter I think.

Without the chain rollers and guides in place the chain can come off if not tentioner correctly and crack the case where the clutch lever housing is. If ever shopping for a new case check the picture out in the clutch lever area on the case.
Using JB Weld is a famous repair in this area. My son lost the chain on the 430wr and it cracked the case.

It pays off to have all the rollers in place. Or tentioner the chain correctly not too tight, not too loose.

Most have done well with just the chain tensioner. My engines do not have that kind of damage and I have 6 of them kicking around

you have to let the chain get waaay loose or let the chain get weak and break. it does happen as i have several of those cases laying around in the pile. just have to adjust the chain or at least look at it each ride. ill admit i do like running all the rollers and tensioners.

Sometimes during a ride in doing loops or big circles we can get caught up in the moment and let's say not think for a second or a roller falls off. I never had it happen to me but it happens when the adreniline and the urge to keep riding takes over. With that said check your chain tentioner and chain sliders/rollers often.
Remove able loctite is your friend.
