  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi guys, how rare is this bike? I'm not looking to sell just have been told different things. I want to restore it has an XC model. Can't seem to find alot about these bikes. Thanks for your time :)

I wouldn't say rare, but not allot of them.I wouldn't change it too XC suspension specs.I feel the WR's have enough travel and handle better because they sit lower then a XC/CR models. True fact 1982 Husky factory rider Kris Bigalow had his Factory Husky suspension lower to less then 11 inch's.

Here is some info:

Thanks guys. Yes frog, I should have said I'm just stripping off the enduro gear not techically making an XC. Have a set of ITC's want to get redone. Forks have been rebuilt. Need to completly pull it down and repaint everything someone left it outside for a long time and here in the NE thats not good for anything. Thanks again frog and tommie d.:applause:

Also the brochure states say the XC has Ohilins ITC's but the Dirt Bike article states and shows pics that it had Betors just like the WR's.

There was a strike at Ohlins in late 1982 and some 1983 WR's came with Betors as a stop gap as they (Husky) was reserving the initial limited quantity of Ohlins ITC's for the longer travel CR and XC models. Strike did not last long and once used up went to the Ohlins on WR's
