• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So i'm starting into my winter project. Back in the day I couldn't afford the milk wagon, but i finally got one. Having said that, it's a tired horse.
I've started to line up sources and tear it down primarily making a list as I go.

If you have any suggestions or recommendations, feel free to chime in. Thanks Mikedi

Hello Mike where are you in New England? I am in north central CT and grew up in western MA. I used to ride NETRA Jr and reg Enduros in the mid to late 70's

Jim, I'm in Southern Rhode Island. There's two NETRA vintage HS, come on by and check it out. Lots of bikes to check out and you'll feel right at home. Probably know a few guys also.

if you can find a later water cooler....put in the clutch and primary gear....better ration and easier start up....have to go up a tooth or 2 on front though

Years ago I had two of these 83/430wr's very tractable power. The newer clutch basket held an extra clutch plate too?

Hey guys, I just pulled a rookie move. Bought a pipe online. Was advertised as a 83 CR500 430 WR pipe. the mounts are all in the wrong spots, no biggie, but it contacts the frame in two spots so it's going to vibrate like a tuning fork.
i have to send it back, Should a CR500 pipe fit? It looks to me like the bends are the same but the shortened head portion of the pipe tells me has me concerned about low end. if you have one for sale let me know also. i don't want to screw around with trial and error.

I got lucky getting a pipe for the 83 430WR I am building with a 1982 430WR engine(no difference, same engine number). I traded a stock 84 - ? LC expansion chamber for a pipe that looked like the 83 430WR chamber I had been looking for for over 5 years and it turned out to be the one.

I remember someone asking the same question you did and one of the former pro riders here told him there is a difference between the 430 & 500 chamber and that the 500 pipe would not work properly on the 430. Stock pipes are scarce because the 430WR was a one year finale model. To answer the possible next question the 82 430WR chamber does not fit even close enough to consider moving brackets on. If you can get a 500CR pipe in and mount it, it would be worth the effort to put 20mm extension in the head pipe to enhance the low end and mid range. The chamber cones may be too large so compare to the chamber you took off assuming you started with one.

I just checked the picture you posted and I would have to ask, Is there something wrong with the pipe that was on it? I would not change from the stock pipe for New England riding but put a more effective silencer on it. Few people need more power than the stock 430 anything has.

Thanks Jim, The stock pipe is completely rotted and too far gone to repair. Mice took up residence and the pi$$ rusted the pipe from the inside out. The chamber seems too large so it contacts the frame. Of course I could make a couple of well placed modifications with a hammer. ha ha

if you can find a good pipe maker, he will whip up a nice custom for you. Geoff Morris Concepts in aus does good pipes

Thanks, I called a couple here in the states but no one has the proper jig. I've seen some of Geoff's pipes on another forum, nice work. thanks for the suggestion.
