• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1982 xc 430 questions.

are you ready to get real confused?if so continue reading!couple of odd questions for my cafe husky friends.i have had a few 1982 xc 430s and are somewhat familiar with them.i recently acquiered a bike i think it is a 1982 xc 430 basically because of the gas tank.the frame #s are not helpful because the frame has been painted.i have not located any engine #s either.it has a mossberger reed assy.i also have a 1981 430 which i think is an xc .so here goes the questions:the expanion chamber on the 1982 is very thin unlike the one on the 1981.it actually looks very similar to the expansion chamber on my 1983 cr 250.is it possible for someone to have put a 250 exp chamber on a 430?or is the wr 430 got a real skinny chamber and this bike is a wr not xc?i ask because i dont have any wr 430s to look at.another question is regarding the swingarm.the 1982s seat is lower than the 1981 even after i installed the 1981 shocks on the 1982.i measured the lower shock mounts on the two bikes and the 1982 lower shock mounts are over an inch toward the back of the swingarm.hopefully you folks are following me on this and can add some light to what i have.thanx, dan

Sounds like a WR to me with the rear shock mounting. Measure the fork tubes and compare to your CR, WR will be shorter also.

Yes and the headpipe will be alot shorter to the expansion chamber. Pull the iginition cover off and see if has a Motoplat or a SEM, SEM is WR but could have been changed. WR frame usually has another weld tab on the frame on the same tube as the coil, its for the voltage regulator is I remember right. Ive had XC's that had that tab also so its not a great indicator. Another thing is the WR didnt have the spring loaded chain roller on the swingarm, I may need correction on that one.
