• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1982 420 AXC

Looks really good, did you fit a spring cover to the first gear clutch? I struggle to make the springs last more than 10 hours on my 420.

Nice work!
Keep the photos coming.

Ps . I'm not running a spring cover yet, but will have to make one up sooner or later. I think Michael D from France has a post on here showing how its done.

Thanks for the advice on the spring retainer, but with my limited skills and ham fisted attempts i don't thin i'll be making a spring retainer.

I've made some more progress with the bike and haven't taken pics as i went, so this update will have to do for now.

It's nearly complete except for the chain, brake torque arm and brake rod, correct seat and a few other minor bits and pieces.
I have XC wheels with a CR swing arm so i have to make up a brake rod torque arm that bolts to the chain guide mount.
I was going to use a WR swing arm but being an inch shorter than the CR swing arm it would have caused handling issues.
I was also going to weld a torque arm bracket to the CR swing arm, but decided against it and made a Torque arm that bolts to the chain guide mounting bracket.

Are you going to ride her? If so you are making a big mistake not fitting a spring retainer, the inside of every cover I have ever seen is scarred by broken spring and the damage bits if steel will do to the sprag clutches and main bearings does not bear thinking about. If she is destined to be a garage queen , don't bother!

if the cat scan has been passed you just need to get the neighbour's Labrador to give you a "lab report" and your good to go...

he wont need a spring retainer as that should go straight to the museum of art..it looks sensational....another superb piece of work my man

I love that blue gas tank, i put the same one on my CR, really makes the bike stand out...

Really beautiful bike :applause:
