• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1982 1/2 500 Paint Color ??

1982 XC 430

Husqvarna
AA Class
Restoring my 82 430 today I got to thinking that I have never seen a 500. So when it came out did it use the Black Tank of the 430 XC- WR and the Maroon Tank of the CR or did they have a Tank Color of there own. Was the 500 avalable in CR-XC-WR configurations?

Sounds like there are a number of Good Pipes avalable for the 81-82 430's. But what about the 250's I havn't herd of one here of surfing the net. Anybody know any diffrent? I have both a 430 and a 250. I'd like to run my 250 in the Washington State Dessert 100 and its a Pipe Killer. Just as soon not crush a Stock Pipe.

It's called a silver streak

82-1/2 500CR had a silver tank with red stripes, aka why they named
the bike the Silver streak. Not sure if they made a XC & WR in 82-1/2
as it was a late year model. They made them in 83 - 86 though.

It was silver w/red stripes, production run was less than 6 mos. it was the last of the chrome-sided tanks as the '83 bikes (released in late fall '82 were all white). If you can find an original (like I did) it's worth a lot.

So searching for a Tank I bought one off e-bay. Its an Aluminum Tank that was in Primer so I thought it was an 83. I had the intensions of polishing the sides and Painting it for my 82. However it turned out to have some Bondo in the wrong spots. Anyway this Tank is Larger than my 250-430 tanks. Was the 500 a larger size? This would make a great Dessert Tank.

83 500XC tank is larger than all 81-82 tanks, 83 CR's had the same size tank as the 81-82's. I just took my 83-500XC tank that had some very minor dents in the "right places", polished the sides like 81-82 and painted it base/clear maroon Imron. I put a smaller 81-82 tank on my 500 and my leg was always on the pipe, larger tank covered it up.

My 83 250 WR has the larger tank, too, so that's another listing to look for if you're trying to find one.

I got lucky and found an 82.5 500 "rebuilder" last year. Correct numbers and silver tank. There are a few dents to work out but I do think they'll come out. It's got its own special spot in the garage. Gonna be a slow build. Right now I'm just doing some "whenever they show up" parts collecting and planning.
