• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I started a thread on this bike and my 420 Auto but it's jumps around a bit and goes off topic, so in the interest of streamlining the resto and staying on topic, i decided to start a new thread.
Here's the other thread http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/81-cr250-and-82-axc420.23256/

I bought the bike in late jan 2012 and it turned up at my door 2 weeks later.

Being the impatient person i am i didn't take many photos of it when i got it, or while stripping it down, i just couldn't wait to get into it.
I had a fair bit of trouble getting the swing arm pivot bolt out, due to bearings and bushes and bolt all rusted together so it was out with the hacksaw

With the pivot bolt out, it was out with the engine and send frame, swing arm and various other parts off to the powder coaters.

while they were off at the powder coaters, the engine was stripped down.
I suspect it's had a big end bearing go through it at some stage because of what the head and piston looked like.

The tank was in reasonable condition but it's been sent off to have the dents removed and be repainted. ( still don't have it back )

Wheels and forks were sent off to Bendigo Dirtbikes along with engine and exhaust system to be rebuilt and painted.

The rear brake plate was toast due to play in the bushes,so a new one was ordered along with new bushes.

I got the frame and swing arm back from the powder coaters fairly quickly took them about 8 days.

A fair bit of time went by when nothing much happened with this bike because most things were off being restored.
About two weeks ago i got my engine, forks and exhaust back and yesterday i got some time to start assembling the bike:banana::applause:

That's about as far as i can go at the moment, i'm still waiting on the wheels and triple clamp and front brake plate to come back from being rebuilt/painted and i'm also waiting on the fuel tank to be done.
The engine has been fully rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, gaskets, conrod and piston.

rider or display? looks 2 good to ride. coming along nicely. bring it to 3bridges for a look in march

Ok found the date for 3 bridges at vinduro victoria and its the 3rd march. If the bike is finished by then i will take it there as its only an hour from home.

Lace up to 17" rims with sticky tires and the great ocean road awaits. I remember a sign thats says 'twisty roads 45Km' over some mountains through the woods ! No mud or yucky stuff like that ! I was only driving a Holden cheapie rental though :banghead:

with thecurrent blast of warm air over the state (and most of it on fire again!) 3 bridges will be dusty so not a bad thing to take her out for a lap or two (just to see what you forgot to do up:D )

A Motard!! now why didn't i think of that!!:applause::cheers:. What a hoot that would be! although there's a high probability of being wiped out by some tourist looking at the views and not the road :banghead:

Every time i've ridden Three Bridges no matter what time of year it is it's always wet and super slick, i don't think that place could ever dry out!!
A mate of mine used to live across the road from the Sanders orchard and we could ride their property any time, he just let them know we would be there. He's since moved and i don't get to ride that property anymore:cry:

Im keen on putting the 39 rear sprocket on the 300 kato and doing the torquay to lorne stretch later in the year when the tourists have dried up a bit

That road would be an absolute blast on the 300  although i would run a few more teeth on the rear for extra acceleration to get out of the way of the tourists!

I can relate all too well to your rear brake plate. I had one like that on an wheel in my collction and bought a replacement on eBay. Asked the seller if there was any damage before buying and he replyed" No damage, perfect condition" Got it and found it was almost as bad as the one I was trying to replace. The one I got on eBay was as bad as yours. The one I was trying replace the groove is thru almost 270° rotation.

Ha! I had the same experience with ebay, i saw a brake plate and thought i'd buy it as a spare it was advertised as being in very good condition, good bushes and very nice shoes.
So i bought it and when i got it the brake plate was worn in the same spot but not right through, its useable but i wouldnt of bought it if i knew it was worn, at least the bushes and shoes are very good.
