  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Reputation points! They can be given to anyone by clicking on the little black rep box on the top right hand side of any post.

You can view your reputation points received by clicking on the USER CP tab at the top left hand side of any main page. One over fromthe home tab! It will show you who has given you points!

Reputation can only be given out some many times per day and must be spread around. You cannot give rep to the same person twice in a row. I believe this system makes you give rep points to at least 8 other users before you can give it to the same guy again.

Rep points should only be given when someone does a very good job or when you feel someone has gone above and beyond when being helpful or sharing really usefull knowledge.

Take a look at your own User CP to understand more.

Tim,

Ahhh, I got it - "costomer service points". Couple of days off w/ pay? maybe?

Per request.
Photo 1: Right hand peg toward front of bike. 8mm Ssteel allen /washer. Note spring sticking thru hole in peg
Photo 2: Right hand peg toward the rear of the bike. Mine is: return spring underneath peg, hooked over frame (I had to do some welding/filing here) and attached to the peg. Sleeved w/ nylon bushing - can just barely make it out in the photo under the spring. Sealed up w/ 8mm flanged nylok.

Hi Rick,

Aren't those pegs going to rip right through the bottom of your boots or do you plan to 'soften' up those teeth?

My son and I just installed mine. Found that you have to leave the nut somewhat loose. Cannot suck it down tight or the peg will not rotate upwards. Guess you have to dependon the nyloc locknut holding true.
Thanks for the pics!

That thing is beautiful everywhere. Every inch of that bike is flawless. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it is all done. Superb work.:applause:

Hi Shim, were you worried about drilling a hole in your headstock (flitch plate?) for your wires to go through? I was thinking of doing the same to avoid the tank snagging the wires, but don't know if it will compromise the frame strength or cause cracking. Is it OK to drill?

Brilliant bike by the way.

Cheers
Luc

Colo moto,
Thanks. Been fun and still is!

White Husky,
Not in the least. 1 1/16" hole in that bad as- Swedish chromemoly steel isn't going to compromise any of its strength or functionality. Additionally, about the only way to get all the wiring to the front of the scoot while still being protected. Like you, I didn't want to try and squeeze the all that wiring btwn the tank and frame. There would have been tank fitment issues and eventually wear problems.
I say ........ go ahead and drill away.

Husky37
Post sandblasting and powder, some of the "sharpness" has been reduced BUT the teeth are still very aggressive. Can't go wrong w/ black.

Matt,
Old photo. New one I can't - bad form (sorry) and I haven't done final mounting yet. It still needs work.

Pipe came in. Preliminary mock up. Needs work. Pipe is wayyyyy too close to the down tube. Pipe mount bracket hits head. Mounting bracket hits head. Got grinding and torch work. Dang it!!!

Have you tried this: Fit a rubber damper to the front pipe mount (the sort that is used elsewhere on the bike with a rubber doughnut and an M6 (?) thread either side) .

The added space will twist the pipe counter clockwise (looking from front of bike). That might eke out a tiny bit of room to clear the front down tube. It will also raise the pipe very slightly where it crosses the cylinder. Slide in a spacer between the pipe and the down-tube and then do everything up. Remove spacer.

That worked on my bike for the top clearance.

Sadly my pipe still rubbed at the base, so it has a malet coming its way!

HiDez,
No names are going to be given out. PC reasons.
I hate to throw someone under the bus and my mom always told me ".....if you don't have anything nice to say - then don't say anything...." BUT I'm POed. Paid a Husky pipe builder/seller? for a pipe last spring. Took an abnormal amount of time to receive it b/c "...pipe builders sick...., ....he's on vacation...., ...he is behind schedule...." Bla Bla Bla Bla. When I finally do get a pipe from him its the wrong model, I get a 390 pipe. Have to send it back on my dime and play the wait again for a correct pipe. Get this one in last Friday, almost nine months fom the initial purchase, and it is still not right and doesn't fit like I had hoped. (See photos) Additionally, instructions for some silencer mounting hooks were ignored and the dang stinger section is 1/2" - 3/4" too short. Go figure.
Anyways, I'm so tired of dealing w/ the guy and sending stuff back to him (not my first time I've had to send back a wrong part, it seems as though its always MY fault I got the wrong/ill fitting part, the return shipping costs are always on me and the time delays are annoying) soooooo I guess I'm going to try and make this one fit myself. Grinder, torch and hammer. Plz forgive my rant, just a little "PO"ed at the moment.

White Husky,
By "racking" the pipe as you suggest, I can get the clearance needed at the down tube BUT then the mounting tab on the pipe and the bracket off the down tube both severely contact a couple of the head fins. Grinder this wkend after the initial disappointment/frustation level settles.
Rick
