• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I think these project threads are great in both tech. info and product info. I wish I had taken more before/during pics of my projects.

Highdez,
Pretty nice starting point. Updated forks, disc front brake, big tank, spark arrestor, aluminum bash plate, aluminum gas cap - nice upgrades already.

We are all watching. Post up before/afters.
Rick

Someday it may be as nice as your project Schim.

Waiting for tank to come back from painter.

And various parts from the nickel plate shop.

Who is the go to guy for resleeving air cooled cylinders?

Thanks HWY,
LA Sleeve doesnt carry pistons for my bike.

Who makes the best pistons for my bike and who has the best prices?

Looks like i have one overbore to go so i need a 87.00mm piston and rings.

OK, then.
You can get Brand New OEM here:
http://www.husqvarnaclassic.se/
They carry them but not cheap. About $328 (ouch)
Comes with Piston, (Wiseco or Woessner) ring, circlips and wristpin.
In stock. Standard and oversize available. Site is in Swedish. Find "Kolvsats" on the right side and clicky.

Or here from Phillip:

Another options:
http://www.woessner-kolben.de/
They have the 84-88 WR430 listed but you should contact them anyway.
Standard and oversize available.

Italian site for Vintage Husky's

Also try Wiseco direct. They list pistons for '81 Husqvarna 250's, maybe they have them for the 430's also.

Thanks HWY,
I decided to go with Rick Horvat.
He spent alot of time with me on the phone just talking husky tech stuff.
So with that kind of customer service and $190 for a complete piston kit (piston, rings, clips and pin) he earned my business.

When you put the later forks on with the disc brake did you use the later triples? The later triples put the forks a little further out from the steering head. I was just wondering as I'm putting the later front end on my 84-WR250. Thanks Scott

I purchased the bike with the front end as is.
The wheel is probably an 85-88 because of the disc.

I just purchased a set of Showa forks off a 2006 250R CRF and a complete wheel assy from a 2007 250R CRF and will look to retro fit it to my Husky.

I just need to look at the stem, or maybe just have one made.

Hey Husky T,
Wanna do a "G" job for me?

Sorry ... "G" ???? need more detail. What do you want me to do?

Hey Husky T,

A "G job" was a term i learned while working in the machineshop world and it means goverment job (when you are working on something for yourself on company time)
I just ordered my new lathe and mill so no worries mate.

Thanks,

Darrell
