  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

1979 WR250 shock placement

A Class
Hello all-Would anyone be able to tell me how to mount my newly rebuilt and painted Ohlins on my 1979WR250? Should the remote resovoir line be facing towards rear of bike and where do they mount??? It's been 4years since I took them off and don't remember. I do have the clamps and a rubber mount,Thanks David P.S. a picture would be great......

There are loads of pictures on this site. Have a look through. Plenty on google too.
From memory one side points up, the other down.

I don't think you can mount them forward. They would hit the frame.. My 78 mounts backwards and one reservoir mounts on a frame stub under the seat and the other on a frame rail. The right side mounts on the stub.

I have a 1979 250WR, Right side hose goes to the rear, loops up and goes forward to the frame stub under the seat. Left side hose goes forward , behind the kick starter, clamps to the frame/cradle. The Ohins decals should be upside down on the left side, right you cant see.
My bike is 100% stock, hopes this helps

Here are mine not sure if they are factory correct but I think they are.

I don't know about the mud in Florida, but I avoid mud/clay in Oklahoma if possible. Nasty sticky stuff and often times red, it's a bitch to clean.

Yup, home made and stick welded ... and free too.
Florida does have some blue clay, mostly black muck , and stiiiiiiiiink!
