• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

They are meant to use high quality hydraulic fluid. Esso Univis HVI 26 is recommended. Ohlins shock fluid is an equivalent. Both very pricey however. You will read about other oils being used also. I use Esso Univis with no problems.

ONLY USE UNIVIS HVI 26, AND CHANGE EVERY TIME YOU RIDE, I never use for more than 3 hours!!

I filter mine and recycle. Drain and let it sit for a week or two. All the heavy particles drop to the bottom. Decant and filter with a paper towel and you can recycle. I ride motocross mainly and the oil doesn't breakdown due to heat from short 5 - 10 minute vintage motos. $20 per litre is expensive to throw away when the only thing wrong is some wear particles from the shoes.

A friend and I use B&M trickshift tranny fluid and has worked well for the last few years... NO failures. I agree with the previous UNIVIS comments, used it for many years(my dad and I raced auto's starting in '76) however fluids have changed considerably in the last 35+ yrs. I also used with no failures OHLINS shock oil(proven to not break down until long after the leading products) which also worked very well... BUT very expensive. I agree 100%, you MUST change after every ride, along with inspecting the tranny for wear.

Available in Australia is Pentite MB15 ..which is a suspension leveling fluid for Mercedes.. in the spec sheets for MB15 it mentions as being an equivalent for Ohlins shock oil...as above tho..one event and change oil..settle and filter..use again.. Penrite is $9 per litre..:applause:
