    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Damn you Darin ( and Walt/Norm ) - I just bought a TE250 - now you are trying to get me wanting a 125 - and its working ... glad to see you back on the two strokes
 
I hear that. I've only ridden the 250s and up with little small bore time at all. All this has me wanting one bad especially the terrain I'm on.
 
I jus want an electric start 150 2t for shits n giggles

I'm assuming there's no room for bore job on these motors so only capacity increase be via stroke?

Is Oz only gettin tc125 Rockdancer? No te125 or 150s?

Ha! Yeah, been waiting for this bike for years. Really liked my 310R four stroke but I only keep my bikes for about 4 years.

Anyone out of US, I'd get the 150 kit if it's a 125.

Like to shake the hand of the guy that built this 150. They keep building bikes like these and they will stay the top brand.

Just can't believe the power they got out of the new FC 250. It's a ripper as well.

I noticed on his that it's not even close to bottoming. So might send his forks out to Zip Ty this winter.

I scrubbed a dubbed mine up last night and think I need some smaller brushes to get in every where.

I got some smaller pilot jets but I not fool with that unless bike is clean.

I will drop them until I get that, shut the throttle off ring, ding, ding. Then go up.

You know Walt Huskenstein, is gonna be inside the engine, to see what can be done...

I do have the stock carb settings that I think are pretty darn close, if you want me to post.

Also, I will show you a pic of my special needle versus stock. Stock one has a big step in it which = a hit.

Want to tell you as well. This tip I discovered. If you feel the transition in your needle between tapers.

Put the needle in a photo copier. You can see the tapers better. Then if the transition doesn't look great.

Put the needle in a drill press and if you go to like a Hobby Lobby. Back in craft section. They have thin sanding sticks. They are blue and white and long. Then I follow up with 1200 grit paper and polish them.

Here is one that I cleaned up some for smooth transition.

Riding Monday, I caught my leg on a stump and ended up, upside down still holding handle bars.
Tried the E start and bike fired. Now if I can learn how to have it pull me up like water skiing, then that would be the ticket. Prob Graham Jarvis could do that.

Comparing this one to all stuff I did to my 09 144, this one just has lil more everywhere.
I noticed too that my 09 vibrated a lot, so sent crank out to balance it. This one pretty smooth.
 
Think this plug may work while jetting. About $7

Then maybe can stick platinum back in.

40 pilot jet. But almost sure you have to drop to 37.5 or 35 yet ( I would make sure you have some smaller pilot jets on hand from what comes stock. I get a 35, 32.5 and 30 just in case. You will know as bike likes to load up a little and wants to be cleaned out with throttle).

Air screw 1 1/2 turns out

480 main jet

Always try to jet bike first then go to powervalve.

Then back to carb and back to powervalve.

Sometimes I thought hiccup was in carb but was in powervalve.

Initial power valve setting

Remove cover

Back threads out on adjuster

Install inner yellow spring

Go to re assemble adjuster

Use longer bolts and with calipers. Set initial adjuster to 13mm before push in and tightening.

Use small punch and mark body outside of brass adjuster with 4 marks. Straight up and down then side to side.

Punch Mark brass adjuster to be lined up with bottom punch mark on adjuster housing.

Try 1/8 of a turn clockwise.

Then try another 1/8 turn.

Mine likes 1/4 turn only.

Feels like even 1/8 turn affects it.

Also, if you get 3/16 bar stock and bend like Allen. Works great and can slide in your boot.

Here is routing for my top two carb vent hoses going to a T then into my airbox.

Just use lil Kohler engine fuel filters. When I do air filter change. I rinse them out with carb cleaner.

That last tail end of hose is pushed back in air box.

Routed hose so not in way of filter removal.

Here is #6 slide and needle I made on right. You can see there is no step taper in needle.

It just comes on fast and progressive mixed with higher volume of air.

So far, I dropped to 27.5 pilot in my carb. Test will be in tight woods then into a straight.

Just putting around tonight than grabbing a hand full of throttle, seems to light right up and break loose rear tire.

Wat holds air filter in place the bit at the bottom?

R those filters necessary on carb breather hoses? Do they suck much air in? I run mine into airbox but no filter. Maybe should put sum on or sum foam at end of hose.
 
Mikuni uses pretty small numbers on the pilot jets. I think a 25 is about the same as 37.5 in a keihin. I used to use a 15 pilot in my old TMX and WR250 to get it to run at above 9000'(it came with two slides and I was using the leaner of the two). Then I switched to an airstriker and it was much better as far as being more able to deal with large changes in elevation.
 
Cool trick sanding down the steps on the needles. That was my issue with the Keihin on the TC150 was the hits as in plural. I think it could be made to work well just lazy on my part I guess. I also have 3 TMXX 38's sitting in the box and might take one out and fiddle with it this winter to see if I can duplicate your work Darin.

There just isn't much room for expansion with the new motor. I will probably split the motor apart on the TE150 also this winter just to have a peek. With some welding you can get another 2mm of bore but I would be surprised if there is much room for stroking. They have done a really good job of minimizing space and weight with this motor. It also runs so well that I think some of the dynamics of the motor that make it so good will be compromised. Doesn't mean I won't try. Worst that can happen is I buy some new parts. I have to be honest though and kind of just want to leave it alone other than minor clean up. Why screw with something that works so well.

Yeah, just stick one on the end of your hose, then leave a tail.

Yes the upper can suck dirt.

I do it mostly for water crossings.

Walt is correct. With Mikuni TMXX, you can sometimes go way down on your pilot.
I do it when doing a lot of single track, so bike does not load up. Ever see guy come out of the woods, blubbers and blows a lot of smoke till he cleans it out on a straight? That's why. If it is white smoke then he blew a head gasket or it's foggy as hell out! Messin wif ya!

Also, you can go up a number on the slide to add more air, but then you have to go up sometimes on your main.

My old 09 144, I ran a 40 pilot, and 470 main. I even had up to a 500 in it. The 500, made no difference than the 470? Theory was, the motor could only suck so much then stop.

I may have had a smaller pilot in it for summer then went up in colder weather?
