• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Thought i might be regretting my 150 buy after riding 250 but was opposite...i was happy to get back on 150! It rips now with better jetting and power valve tweaking :)

Why did you cover up the bottom portion of the tank? Looks like a good time!

It is a translucent tank and and keeps the sides nice from getting all scratched up and stains embedded in plastic.
I do it if I think it is going to be muddy.
You can cut a notch down towards front if you want to see your fuel level.

Thoughts are this winter is to produce an aluminum tank. Just to see if I can do it?

Ive got some nice rub marks in mine already... Makes sense..

Been while since I messed with pipes and silencers.

There are three pipes I have in mind? Scalvini , FMF Fatty and HGS. I am wanting power from bottom to top.

Silencers are bout one choice from Scalvini.

About one for HGS.

FMF, got Powercore titanium? Turbine Core? Shorty? So some imput as to overall power be appreciated?

Noise does not bother me because helmet muffles it anyway. Neighbors live qtr mile away and like that too!

So any imput from you is appreciated ?

The fmf fatty will give you more broad power through power curve instead of boosting just top or bottom. Combine with shorty silencer which is design to enhance bottom mid range. It will be little louder than the turbinecore 2.1 and is not spark arrested. I think I'm going to go with fatty/shorty combo and make my stock pipe spark arrestor with little screen from Lowes just get through inspection then switch back to shorty. I cannot speak to the scalvini as have never owed one.

If it helps any? I use a wood bit to drill my side cover vents. Then trim edges with exacto knife.

I glue the vents in with silicone.

But in the back side. I drill two small holes against the side cover. Then insert these lil clevis pins I got at farm store.

Guarantees that I won't pop them out.

I drilled a couple 4-5 holes in the front of my air box facing towards the front of the bike, its not much but it does feel restricted even with that little extra ventilation. Where dod you get those vents from?

When you gonna pull the trigger for yours?

Well, I've been logging lots of miles on the '14 300 lately and it works so well I just may wait another year. In fact, it works so well that I just feel greedy wanting a new bike. For now I think I'll follow the development of the new platforms and maybe think about an '18. Loving' this thread, though...

They reckon the '17 300 has a restricted airbox and opening up yields a big power gain ( video on youtube ) so it may be worth testing the airbox design - but it sounds like its going real good to me

Are you looking for more air supply? The stock air box is very well sealed and I wondered about restriction.

Yes, I was having issues with not drawing enough air for my carb. I also switched to spray filter oil instead of bottle and pour on stuff. The filter don't like over oiled. So first thing came to mind was venting side panel just like bigger two strokes and 4 strokes. I took my side cover off and noticed my carb ran crisper. So after I drilled holes. I took some smoke and as I cracked throttle wide open the smoke was drawn in. We did same on sons FC 250.
