  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I put about 30 miles on my new 144 yesterday. What a diiference the kit makes. The bike just climbs up hills with no effort and the mid range power is great.

Chris

Hopefully your better half. And I'm not talking about your left side!

I look great for my age if viewed from 50 feet away in a passing car at night, in the rain.

Picked my 144 kit up from Bill today. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start with the jetting on the TMX?

144 kit + keihin carb kit + pv spring kit = no more bog is that right?

Dunno about that. But, the bog can usually be eliminated by the PV arm adjustment and PWK. My bike runs great as is, I am just doing the 144 for a little more pop and added fun factor.

Mine did not need any jetting changes from stock with the tmx.

Chris,
Are you going back to stock gearing (13/50)? Does it use any more or less fuel? Can it do everything a gear higher? Can you blow the doors off Harold and Tim's '10 TXC250's?:D

P.S. My kit came today, but don't have time to install it until Friday night.....

Power valve shaft pin

Hi guys,my tech Dave was putting a 144 kit on our last 09 today and showed me the power valve shaft pin on the left side of the cylinder that would not come out/so we found one and put it inthe 144 cylinder. But makes me wonder how many kits have been installed without the pin? granted it cant move back and forth too much but may cause some wear issues from the shaft moving in and out .The shaft comes out of the old cylinder by rotateing it without removal of the pin so it could very easy to overlook it during 144 kit installation.Im trying to add a pic billf

I am thinking about going back to the stock gearing to give a little more length between gears. It has plenty of power for it now. I think the mileage will be the about the same put it is a little to soon to tell. I think the bike can give there TXC's a run for the money with a better rider. But it is easier to keep up for me.
