  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

13' TXC310R Hot start issues

we had a 2013 txc 310 last week doing the same thing.needed a valve adjustment.was good after that.dan

Dan,
Still love the bike for the most part, just cant stand the fact it doesnt want to start when its hot. Its a hit or miss. You guys checked the valves and they were okay. I just put a new featherweight WPS 490-2501 battery in it and nothing has changed. Starts every time cold, with choke, right away.

Just dont see why it would need starter parts if it starts fine every time when its cold but not when its hot.

Was there an outcome from this,
I have the same issue. Starts fine cold first gear riding for a while, stall the bike then is hard to start, Hard to kick to.
I let it sit for 10, check coolant add a 100mls to top, start it again starts fine.
Seems to be 100% hot starting issue.
Bike has done 20 hours, I just put a new plug and that didn't alter things. I can't believe this could be a valve issue not enough hours. Battery gives lots of speed on starter, but like I said it won't kick either.

Have you actually checked your valve clearances? I've only got about 900kms on my bike and my valves were way out. .08mm and .11mm for the intakes, and between .25mm and .28mm for the left exhaust.

Factory shims were all 2.00mm. Seems like a lazy assembly worker.

I haven't checked the valve clearances yet.. I guess I was hoping it was simple, and everyone on posts elsewhere seems to say the valves were on spec, on this posting though there is yourself and the other guy mentioned, so I guess it is now on the to do list.

I will probably get a new temp sensor
Take out thermostat, I am in 30 degrees c here 24/7 365
add an additional fan to the other side. (I have put my fan on a switch after the automatic switch failed)
upgrade to better coolant (I took it out when I brought the bike from o/s)

Apart from that I can now add, valve clearances, I still would be curious what the outcome from the poster was.... did the valve clearances fix it or not, and why would this make a difference only when hot for goodness sake??????

Michael..
