  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'12 TE310 speedo coming up Fail

Husqvarna
AA Class
Have like 26 miles on my '12 TE310 and I went to start it and the starter just spun the first two times and then on the 3rd attempt it started but came up with fail message on speedo. Tried disconnecting the battery and hoping it would reset itself but no such luck. I noticed it now only reads MPH and the odo has zeroed it's self out and Fail will not disappear even when I take it for a spin. It seems to be running alright other then the speedo being screwed up. Could it be a speedo failure?
I'm not off to a good start with this bike as on my first ride I got a mile or two from my house and the plastic fitting from the fuel tank cracked and I had to push it back. That was fixed right up by the dealer and my second ride was uneventful but now this. This is definitely not very confidence inspiring to say the least!
Any feedback is appreciated as I spoke to my dealer and I'm going to take it out on sunday and keep my fingers crossed but obviously it's more then likely headed back to the shop again!

Hmm, sounds like a starter problem as it shouldn't just spin. I'd take it to the dealer. I realize that's a pain, but I wouldn't lose faith. This is small stuff. The 310 is a good bike.

The dealer probably manhandled the tank during prep and cracked that fuel fitting. Not sure why the starter would have problems, but the shop should be equipped to diagnose the cause.

If it says fail it means the ECU has recorded a sensor being out of range so it needs plugging into the diagnostic kit by your dealer to see what is or was wrong. It won't be the speedo, the fail warning is triggered by the brain, not the speedo itself.

Thanks I sort of figured it wasn't the odo.
This is really starting to grate on me I must say. How in the world am I suppose to feel good about going off and exploring in the woods when I can't even get to break in the bike without having two failures in a measly 26 miles.
Hell the first 310 I was going to take delivery of had a starter failure before I could even load it up at the dealer so then we regrouped and he prepped another and when I went back all seemed good but like I said when I was able to take it on the first ride a couple of days later I got all of 1-2 miles from my house and it started running rough and spewing gas all over as the plastic fitting from the tank had cracked and this was all on smooth pavement ! BTW a plastic fitting really??? Who ever signed off on that hopefully is just sweeping floors at the factory these days !

Gee not a good run. Sounds like your dealer has not prepared the bike correctly. I'd go elsewhere.
