• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

12 Hole Injector Upgrade For Te250 / Te310

Encouraging news all right. I too will be performing one or more of these mods when it all shakes out. But I still have reservations.

In Blackdiamonds case, he is using a TXC ECU, whereas the Husky factory ECU/injector offering (PN 8000h7557) is for a TE, albeit a re-mapped one. The TXC and the re-mapped TE ECUs are not the same, are they?

In kiwitxc's case, it could be that the 12 port injector alone worked so well in his bike because the New Zealand-issued TXC/TE ECU mappings may not have to deal with North American smog requirements.

I look forward to Laura's experience. I want the same thing from my TE310 as she wants from her TE250. Smooth, linear ignition from small throttle openings. I have NO issues with the torque already available, nor do I wish for more mid and top. It screams everywhere with just the power-up, JD tuner and stock pipe.

At lower speeds, the FI misses and blats just when I need precise metering at SLOW switchbacks and other situations where I have to go from closed throttle to just-a little-throttle while in motion.

OK HERE'S THE DEAL! Yesterday, Got the dealer to install the 12 Hole injector and ECU kit that is technically for 2012 TXC 250. (Same part number as the jpg on the first page of this thread) The Mechanic set the CO settings to zero across the board and reset the TPS. Completely took off my JD tuner. Outcome...................THE BIKE WORKS SO MUCH BETTER!!! I tried the bike out in the snowy single track in the back forest and there was no more low end bog. I get a nice even power flow right off idle. very little throttle needed to get the bike to move now... I can now blip over logs and rocks way easier with no hesitation. Throttle response is the way it should be... So Definitely I recommend getting this upgrade for your TE 250 or 310. :applause:

Almost $600 cost for the Dealer to install (Canadian Dollars). But well worth it!!
I haven't been able to test the mid/top end because the roads were very icy... (had a huge dump of snow). Can't wait for things to melt now so I can really give this thing a test... HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE... Good for you Australia for getting this free with your 2012's. Maybe they will do that in Canada soon.. Who knows..

Good post Laura,
I ended up with the Same Outcome.... your mid/top will be great to. Nice to hear from people,
that "bit the bullet" and got results. I still have a PCV/Auto-tune for sale for all that seam to
think they must have an aftermarket fuel tuner on there Husky ? $ 400, paid $ 600

Thanks for the report Laura. I know you're happy by the size of your font. I guess I know where my tax refund check is going :).

Laura, do you know why the JD tuner was removed? I realize the bike is much improved for you, but without trying the mid-top range I don't understand why it wouldn't be left on in case you wanted to make some adjustments.

I realize that, but doesn't it just richen or lean the mixture based on RPM/Change in RPM? If so, I would've thought that it could still be used, but would need different settings since it was designed to provide a fuel map based on the original ECU and injector.

For mine, it mentions in the documentation that setting all values at 2 is the same as the factory settings. Isn't that the equivalent of not using the tuner? That's why I thought you would still be able to richen or lean the mixture, if you wanted.

Or is the problem that the TXC ECU and upgraded injector put the mixture at a point where no adjustment in the range of the tuner will get the mixture to an appropriate setting?

I don't know much about the JD tuner and if it works with the new injector. (The mechanics would know better) I guess it's a matter of testing it out. My boyfriend took the TE out for a good test the other day and he said the bike is fantastic in all gears. He loves the bike. "I" can't wait to ride it more and get to know it better. I hope that in the future these bikes will come with this upgrade.

Why would anyone add anything to a bike that is now running PERFECT Plug & Play, is beyond me ??? Check out CH and FAR racing.... and ask them about the JD and PCV ???

"IF" your bike is running perfectly, then I would certainly agree. That does not, however, mean that every bike will run perfectly with the same changes.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, you also upgraded your exhaust?

Andrew, Yes I have a full Ti-Leo . I think the 12 port/ 12 TXC ecu will still make a stock bike (Arrow
pipe) run better than paying $ 200-600 for a aftermarket tuner ?? My 250 is setup as a street legal
(beer getter) and a SuperMoto Race bike on the weekends. I swap out the headlight and rear fender to pass tech. Only a few plugs are involved and I wish not to have any more... Bike Runs Great.IMGP0001.JPG

Gorgeous picture 510 SM SC,
We made a license plate mount for my TE yesterday out of a sheet of plastic and mounted it where you have yours (right under the tail light). That stock signal light holder is a pain the @$$ on the trails. Mine actually came loose on the trail and ripped right off as it got caught on the back wheel. OOPs!! I heard that it's not illegal to not have signals in Ontario. Hand signals are sufficient. My boyfriend got pulled over with his KLX 450 (street plated, but no signals), and the cop couldn't argue with him because it's not the law to have signals. So I'm only keeping the front ones on mine.

I agree that the JD is obsolete now with the new injector/ECU. Went for a slippery/snowy ride yesterday since it was above freezing, and had a blast. only dropped the bike once in the woods. it was hard to see the off camber wet branches beneath the snow on the trail so had to go pretty slow/cautious (not much out of 2nd gear). What a huge difference this upgrade makes even without the exhaust done. The BF and I are heading south to West Virginia (Hatfield and McCoy trails in April). I could really use that beach right about now though. LOL

Glad to hear the good news! I'm now waiting on the full report- technical twisties and if it affects your fuel mileage noticibly. If I didn't have the need to lighten my wallet for some rad braces, skid plate and softer suspension springs I think I'd be inclined to try the ECU..

Yeah I think we're forever buying ad-ons for our toys and unfortunately it adds up quickly. I'd like to get all the bells and whistles, and that will happen over time. I'm still debating whether I need to lower it or not. I'd rather get used to it taller and save the money for other things. Possibly a rekluse down the road. I need to invest in some padded gloves since yesterday's ride gave me a nasty blister on my clutch hand. I also look forward to testing out this bike in all conditions and sharing experiences with others.

has anyone had any issues installing the new 2012 ECU on their bike, my shop is on the second ECU and cannot get it to work. We installed the 12 port injector but when the 2012 ECU is installed the bike will not run, will barely start. definitely not Plug and play in my case. We were thinking the first ECU may have been defective so we ordered another one from Husky and it's doing the same thing. He can't get the bike to run long enough to adjust the mapping. Any suggestions??

thanks,

I would look at your fuel pump?sounds like a fuel pressure issue?
I've had a couple EFI MX bikes in (other brands) doing the same thing, it was a fuel pressure issue
