  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just pulled these from my 250. A mistake at the factory? They should both be the same part (the one on the bottom) My guess is the one on the top is from a 300?? Anyone have them out and know what they look like?

I had the same thing on my WR250 I ordered a new one form Hall's to replace it so they were the same.

Do you think that they might get worn over time? Odd how it only happend on one side just like my bike.

You could tell if they were. Worn as the part out rubs in would be shaped like that too.

No my guess is a bloke worked on the 300's then worked on the, 250 and thought the chamferd one lived there.

Or low on parts so they stretched out the production by putting one form the300 in Not many would notice a problem until they strip it down.

I agree, I picked up the bike used in the fall. It had 300 mi on the ODO and was sitting for awhile. It had a louder than normal PV "knock" on the right side, so I pulled it apart and found the different valve. The bushing didn't look that worn so I'm not sure why it was louder.
If you look in the bore where the bushing goes, it looks like the end of the valve was knocking against the cylinder like maybe it was pushed in too far? No way that's wear. I was wondering if anyone with a 300 had them out and know what they look like.

I would off thought if the 300 is a bored out 250 then the valves are chamfered for clearance of the piston.
I don't actually know tho. It's all a guess.

The funny thing is the bike that I had that problem with was an 08, 3 years of doing it wrong between you r bike and mine, hard to believe but anything is possible.

Maybe that is how it is supposed to be. I find it rather strange that a mistake was made more than once and also the first year for the WR300 was 2009. Parts breakdowns shows they should both be the same on the 250 and a different part number for the 300.

The plot thickens.

The port does not fully close with the chamfered valve. I asked halls to compare the two part numbers but they didn't have the 300 one in stock. Maybe the 300 port is different?
